"Olvin and his crew were very hard working. They did an excellent job. Olvin himself is an amazing tile setter and we are very happy with the finished job. I would recommend Owen to anybody looking for a ceramic tile job."

"Vince did an amazing job re-tiling our guest bathroom. He really paid attention to detail and the job was 100% done right. I would highly recommend him and would hire him again next time we need tile work. Also, he is extremely patient, easy to work with and very clean!"

"Super professional and responsive. Excellent work! I had a few chips on the edge of my quartz countertop. I tried to repair it on my own, but didn’t work. Geo’s Marble & Granite was quick to respond and was able to get it fixed the very next day! It’s seamless. You would never know that there was a chip or work done. Thank you!"

"We have an event coming up and desperately needed help with Three big Marble surfaces and two smaller limestone areas. I came to look on Angie’s list! Within an hour I got a response from Vincent and we set up a time to meet a few days later! Vincent is not only friendly and kind but also very good at communicating which I think is very important. He showed up along with a worker and they finished my project within two days! They are so professional and they cleaned everything up nicely and left our place looking very neat! The price was also quite reasonable and we will definitely continue to work with them for maintenance and whatever else we need, would highly recommend! The counter tops were pretty damaged since we didn’t seal them to begin with years ago, that was a mistake on our part but I’m so happy that Vincent and his worker did such an awesome job in restoring and improving the appearance and luster of the marble tops! They’ve never looked better!"

"I recently hired Milton and his company to replace my laminated flooring, which had been damaged by a flood. They did an outstanding job, installing beautiful tile flooring and completing all the work in just five days. I’m extremely pleased with the quality, professionalism, and efficiency they demonstrated throughout the project. Milton was easy to communicate with and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. I’m so happy with the results that I already plan to rehire him next spring to renovate my kitchen. Highly recommend!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

On the other hand, when you try to cut the tiles to fit around the toilet, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. It’s a lot more work, it’s hard to be precise, and mistakes or miscalculations can lead to future moisture damage to the tiling, grout, and subfloor.

Different types of tile cutters may work best depending on the type of tile you are cutting and the size of your project. There are two main types of tile cutters: manual and electric. Manual tile cutters are quick and easy to use for small projects and softer tile materials, but they can only make straight cuts. Electric tile cutters make light work of big projects and can cut through harder materials.

Replacing tile flooring can take a few days for a pro, but larger rooms will need more time. It takes eight to 12 hours for a tiling pro to remove old grout and tiles across 100 square feet. Then, it will take about four hours to prep the subfloor for tiles and another eight to 10 hours for a pro to install new tiles. Your tiling project may take up to a week, depending on the size of the room.

For professional labor and materials, it would cost between $6,000 and $28,000 to install 1,000 square feet of Saltillo tile flooring. If that’s out of your budget, you could consider laying the tiles yourself or choosing a less expensive type of flooring. For example, vinyl flooring costs just $2 to $7 per square foot, so for a 1,000-square-foot space, you’d pay $2,000 to $7,000.

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.
