"HouseMaster (Steve & Bob LeFrois) are hands down the best home inspectors serving in the Rochester and southern tier areas. They go over every part of the house from the roof to the foundation and explain all their findings to the home buyer and their realtor during the inspection. Steve and Bob are professionals who put buyers at ease during their inspection not only because of their many years of knowledge and experience, but because they have a great calming personality who put anxious buyers at ease during their inspection. Then provide a very detailed thirty plus page report including pictures usually by the next day. Steve always offers a follow up phone call if the buyer wants to go over any part of the report or has any follow up questions. Steve makes scheduling an inspection and payment extremely easy for a buyer. As long as they are in business, I will call them every time I need a home inspection."

"Scott Bacon of Certified Radon Systems, LLC is the best! If you need radon mitigation, I highly recommend Scott Bacon and Certified Radon Systems, LLC. We saw a mansion for sale in another state online and bought it. Of course, there are lots of things to fix up with the new house, including radon mitigation. Before we even set foot in the house, Scott evaluated the property and set up a mitigation plan. He worked with us remotely, so we didnâ  t have any extra costs of flying out to the new home before we were ready to move. And he installed the equipment on time and without a single problem. Scott also followed up after the install and did some testing to make sure the systems worked properly. The house is enormous, but the cost for the mitigation systems was extremely affordable. Scott Bacon and Certified Radon Systems, LLC were ultra-reliable and did a fantastic job! If you need radon mitigation, use Certified Radon Systems, LLC. Youâ  ll get excellent customer service and peace of mind knowing you are working with professionals to safeguard your home."

"I have worked with many contractors, plumbers, electricians, etc. in my time owning two homes. On here in New England and the other in Pembroke Pines,FL. These gentlemen from rhino radon services were deffinelty personable and proffesional I felt like my home was in good hands with this company. After calling around and having a job scheduled with another mitigation company I was blown off and left with a short deadline. Luckily after speaking with Henri from rhino radon they were able to squeeze me right in your schedule the very next day even though they had two other jobs scheduled they showed up at 5pm and still completed the job to ensure I met my closing date, if your looking for a standout and accommodating radon company I would say look no farther then rhino radon. I was very pleased with the service I recieved. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

If your home has a sump pit, you can integrate it with a radon mitigation system. You can accomplish this by sealing the pump cover with an airtight lid that accommodates radon vent pipes and sump pump hoses. This allows the vent pipe to redirect the radon gas outside of your home.

Your radon mitigation system may be loud because it’s time to replace it. Any sounds are usually from the inline fan that helps create the vacuum and resulting airflow. If you hear a new, loud mechanical or humming noise from your radon fan, it might be time to replace it. Most fans used in radon mitigation systems last up to 10 years, but may need to be replaced sooner.

The lifespan of a radon mitigation system depends on the type of system and its maintenance. With proper care, a system can last for many decades. Passive systems tend to last longer as they have fewer components that require replacement. Active systems, which have more moving parts like fans, generally have a shorter lifespan. For instance, water filtration devices and active pressurization systems require more frequent maintenance. While the system as a whole is durable, the radon fan in an active system typically has a lifespan of 5 to 10 years and will need to be replaced. As long as the fan is working, the mitigation system should function correctly.

Mitigation can take several days depending on home setup, equipment accessibility, and achieving effective diffusion system sealed efficiency.

The natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water can cause radon to appear in a home. The gas seeps into homes through cracks in foundations, walls, or floors, as well as through gaps around pipes or construction joints. Radon levels are influenced by soil composition, building materials, and ventilation. Poorly sealed or airtight homes can trap radon, allowing it to accumulate.
