"We hired Moretti Landscaping and Masonry to remove an old gravel driveway which had old asphalt underneath. Frank came to the house, gave an estimate, and filed for the permit in my Village! That was a big help with permitting and documentation, etc.,. The project turned out great. The crew of workers was A+, really great guys and workers! They work fast, neat and professionally. I recommend Moretti Landscaping and Masonry based on my experience and project. 1"

"Kenny and his team are wonderful--meticulous, thoughtful, professional, and just kind, good people. We hired them to install a gravel pit and flagstones and are so happy with our new backyard. We will be calling them back to do some plantings next year. Kenny was very responsive, helped flesh out our vision, and when something wasnt to his standards he came back with ideas to revamp it and work within our budget. A great experience overall. I would not hesitate to recommend."

Customers say: Quality work

"James (the) Mason is a fantastic fellow who does fine work. He and his team did a great job of fixing-up our 60 y/o home's crumbly bits. When he dropped-by for an estimate, he offered to fix a couple of small, ancillary issues he noticed and also had his team fix anything that they noticed as they were working at no additional cost, to include adding a bit of mortar to an area where cables enter our home to keep critters at bay and adding some mortar along the side of our foundation adjacent to a garage and sidewalk that he thought might allow unwanted water to invade. They also removed an old television antenna and pulled some leaves out of my gutters as a courtesy while working atop my frighteningly steep roof. As for the brass tacks, the work they performed came-out perfectly; were it not for the unavoidably very slightly different color of the new mortar, you would never know that this was a repair job by looking at it. On top of all of the above, they were extremely careful to clean-up the site when finished, so they 'kept only memories and (aside from the completed work) left only footprints.' I will definitely add Rock Solid General Contractors Corp to my virtual rolodex as the *only* mason to call. Ever. Thanks much to James and co!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Pavers are one of the most affordable methods of creating an elevated outdoor space. Gravel is an equally affordable alternative. If your budget permits, you can look into building a permeable driveway to ensure proper drainage. Grid pavers, pervious concrete, brick, and brick pavement are all effective materials. Permeable driveways are great options, especially if you live in an area with heavy rainstorms.

A window flower box should be deep enough that there’s room for a wide selection of plants and the required amount of soil and gravel. Standard flower boxes are 8 inches deep and 8 inches from front to back. Larger is better to increase the variety of plants in the box, but you could run into stability issues as it increases in weight.

Yes, you can hydroseed with a garden hose, but you’ll need a tank or other large vessel for mixing the slurry, then a pump to send the slurry through the hose for spraying. Making your own hydroseeding unit can work, but it’s not usually worth the effort and supplies unless you already have them.

Palm trees are relatively easy to grow, especially when planting different varieties in their native habitats. While regular watering is crucial in the first couple of months while the palm develops a strong root ball, palms typically require minimal maintenance once they’re established. You’ll need to prune palm fronds once or twice per year to keep it in tip-top shape.

It’s usually best to buy plants from a local greenhouse or nursery yourself, but landscapers are also a reliable option. First, you can choose exactly what plants you want based on their appearance rather than relying on your landscaper to choose. Additionally, while it’s more time-consuming to go buy the plants yourself, you’ll often save money because landscapers charge for delivery and may upcharge the plants. You can also speak to a professional at a nursery to ensure you understand how to care for your plants and get the most long-term value.
