"Hired G&R to fix up my deck, stain it, and paint a shed. The work involved replacing all of the horizontal hand rails, and tightening the floor boards. G&R stained the entire deck by hand (including the lattice work). Gave me a good price and stayed with that price. The deck was 35 years old, but you couldn't tell by looking at it now. My neighbor hired them to do some landscaping work after seeing them work on my property. Willie was easy to work with. Would definitely hired them again."

"Fantastic work on our needed yard cleanup, edging and mulching. Very efficient and saved me a ton of time. They even trimmed the overgrown pear tree/bush. Just terrific and the price was quite reasonable given the work involved. Many thanks to Jorge and his crew."

Customers say: True professional

"We couldn’t be happier with the work by Frank and his team! We started a backyard reno with another company and midway through we realized how many corners were being cut by the crew. The pavers weren’t cut consistently around our Roman style shaped pool, our pillars weren’t symmetrical around our pergola, the list goes on. I stopped the work before they built our outdoor kitchen. Moretti Landscaping was recommended to me in hopes they could help us. They worked with us on the pricing knowing how we had a huge loss with the previous company and the yard now looks wonderful. I trusted the workers immediately after seeing their attention to detail. They custom made our outdoor kitchen and helped me and my husband achieve what we wanted. Highly recommend Moretti Landscaping !"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Hedges can be trimmed in many other shapes than the standard square shape. They can be cut into spiral, cone, and sphere shapes. However, cutting and maintaining these types of shapes is much more challenging. There are metal frames that you can purchase to place around the hedge to make it much easier.

Buying plants from a nursery is one thing, but ensuring that they are properly planted is another. While you might not need to hire a landscaper for every plant that you buy from a nursery, it’s a great idea to have their expertise and experience to plant larger items, like burlapped trees or specialty plants like rose bushes. Even better, before making a trip to a nursery to buy new plants, consult a local landscaper to test your soil for pH levels, soil texture, and phosphorus and potassium levels to help determine the best plants for your area.

The best landscaping for a septic drain field is shallow-rooted grass or native vegetation that helps prevent soil erosion while allowing water to evaporate efficiently. Avoid planting trees, shrubs, or deep-rooted plants near the drain field because the roots can infiltrate pipes and cause blockages. Using mulch or gravel sparingly can also help retain moisture and protect the system without restricting airflow.

Late August, September, and mid-October are the ideal months for planting a young tree. However, the best time to plant a tree ultimately depends on when the weather transitions to fall-like conditions and eventually winter frost. As long as the hottest days of summer have passed and the ground hasn’t frozen yet, you can still successfully plant trees.

As much as you might try to keep a healthy, nutrient-rich lawn, you still may notice signs of St. Augustine decline (SAD)—a viral disease that discolors your grass blades. St. Augustine decline looks like:

  • Discoloration in the leaves (chlorosis)—leaves appear yellow and splotchy

  • Decline in growth

  • Leaves turn black within 3 years

  • Grass appears less vibrant

  • Grass begins to thin

  • Root rot

  • Grass takes longer to recover
