Customers say: True professional

"For years I have wanted to update my very old and inefficient American Standard cast iron boiler. I was very fortunate to find Mr Joe Burriesci the owner of Mayjac Plumbing who took the time to evaluate the best options, since the old boiler handled two apartments. We collectively decided to go with two Navien Combi Condensing Boilers, but the best part of the entire process was how meticulous the installation was done. From start to finish Mayjac Plumbing kept every promise and timeline made. I highly recommend Mayjac Plumbing..."

"He came when he said he would and installed two ceiling fans, replaced two light switches, repaired my basement door, and installed two plant holder brackets in the ceiling. He was a pleasure to work with and I was extremely pleased with his work. His prices were very reasonable for all the work he did. I would definitely recommend him to my friends and I would hire him again."

"This company was recommended to me by a plumber that I know. They showed up on time, got right to work, spent the time answering my questions and making sure I understood the type of cesspool system I had and how to maintain it. They were able to find the cesspool within about 5 minutes, almost just by looking at the lawn. Pumped it, aerated it, applied chemicals. Great job, highly recommended!"

"We used ACM 7 years ago to install a French Drain and sump-pump for the southern side of our lower level. It solved our water leak problems. This past week we used them again to install a similar system on the northern side of our lower level. "They contacted me very quickly. I requested a quote late at night and they called me at 10am the next day and they had a licensed plumber at my home within an hour of calling me. He was excellent, fixed the toilet bowl in 45 minutes and charged me $250. He was clean, professional and fast. I would recommend this company! I also contracted with them to repair my shower head and install a new bathroom sink. Everything was fully explained to me about the toilet and also what I needed to get for them to fix the shower and the sink. They will be back on Monday 9/28 (today is Saturday 9/26) to fix the shower. It will cost $275.00 + tax and I had to get the shower head. Not a problem, they told me exactly what to get. I had to order the vanity top, faucet and sink anyway so as soon as that is all delivered around mid-October they will return to fix the sink. Installation fee for the sink will run $975.00 +tax, and they are supplying the pipes under the sink, which all need to be replaced. They told me it will take around 5 hrs to install the sink. As this is in the future, I will leave a second review to report how things went, but I am very optimistic that things will go well judging by how they went today."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

Thankfully, you do have a few sump pump backup options in case it fails. One option is a battery-powered backup sump pump. Another option is using a portable backup generator as a power supply for your sump pump. Unlike a battery-powered backup which has limited power, a generator can run around the clock for as long as you need it.

Or you can opt for a water-powered backup pump, which uses your home’s water supply as a source of power. However, this may not be the best option if you find your house frequently has low water pressure.

If you notice any new sump pump noises, such as persistent clanging or gurgling, then you likely have a sump pump problem on your hands. Foul odors coming from the pump can also indicate problems. Additionally, if your unit turns on but doesn't pump water, you might have to address electrical problems. In any of these cases, it's a good idea to hire a professional to address the issue.

There are a couple of similar alternatives you may consider for a sewage ejector pump, including a grinder pump or a submersible sump pump. Submersible sump pumps protect your home from flooding from outside water, though, rather than handling wastewater from inside. A grinder pump macerates, or shreds, solid waste before pumping it onward to the sewer line.

If your sump pump isn’t engaging, it might be clogged with dirt and debris. Check to see if the fitting lid is loose and has been letting debris in. Next, check the float and make sure it’s not obstructed by rust or gunk, which results from insufficient maintenance. Tangled wires or damaged switching systems can also stop your sump pump from engaging.

There are several indicators that your washing machine’s drain pump is bad, including incomplete cycles, water not draining, lack of spinning, a foul odor when the machine is running, and a loud grinding or buzzing noise when the pump is trying to move water down the drain.
