"Great trustworthy Locksmith. Aaron came out on 8/29/2021. He replaced and re-keyed 6 locks for us. He arrived on time and was professional throughout the entire experience. On top of the replacement of the locks and re-keying (which was tricky since I didn't have one of the original keys) he also had to deal with a door misalignment issue at no additional charge. I would definitely recommend working with Aaron's Locksmith Service based on my experience. - Scott C."

"Al, Nick and Lou have been my trusted general contractors for more than 15 years. The house I inherited needed to be brought up to current code and required many, many different upgrades, including, electrical, plumbing, windows and railings. In addition, he has repaired storm damage and subsequent painting and drywall repairs. I also hired them to supervise the refinishing of my hardwood floors. He also is in charge of tree removal and general landscaping after storm damage. I would trust Al to do an excellent, professional job with anything that arises. He can either do the job with his crew or has a vast network of building professionals that he can call in for specialty projects."

"Elan was attentive to my repair needs. He gave me low cost and higher cost options. He guarantees the work for 2 years. The repairs were a bit more expensive than other locksmiths but he completed the job on the same day right on the spot. I will recommend Elan for future locksmith repairs."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Rekeying a lock changes the internal mechanism so that a new key works, while replacing a lock involves swapping out the entire hardware. Rekeying is a good, cost-effective option when you want to ensure old keys no longer work, such as after moving into a new home or losing a key. It's also ideal if you want to keep your existing lock hardware. You should opt to replace the locks entirely if you want to upgrade to a more secure or different style of lock, if the current lock is old or damaged, after a break-in, or if too many copies of the old key exist.

Smart door locks are safe to use and are usually considered safer than traditional locks with keys. While all electronic devices can be hacked, that doesn’t happen nearly as frequently in real life as people may think. You can also invest in multiple locks of different types for enhanced security so you don’t rely solely on one smart lock.

There are several situations when you should change or replace your locks to ensure your home's security. Key moments include moving into a new house, after a break-in or attempted break-in, or when a roommate or anyone else with a key moves out. It is also wise to change your locks if you lose your keys, especially if they have an address attached or you suspect they were stolen. Finally, if your locks are old, broken, worn out, or have become unreliable, they should be replaced.

Rekeying your own locks is a low-cost task that prevents you from having to replace the locks themselves completely. The first couple of times you rekey a lock may be challenging because this is an intermediate DIY task. You can purchase a rekey kit from most hardware stores, but make sure you’re buying the kit from the brand of lock in your home that you’re going to rekey.

A deadbolt differs from a regular lock in its design, construction, and security level. Regular locks are typically used for interior doors, such as for bedrooms and bathrooms, and provide minimal security. They are easy to install and use, often featuring a simple locking mechanism on the inside. In contrast, a deadbolt is one of the most secure locks you can install on an exterior door. Its internal construction is designed to withstand significant force, adding a crucial layer of security that can deter intruders. While deadbolts may be more expensive and complicated to install, they are cost-effective for the security they provide and are built to hold up to wear and tear.
