"I found Patterson Electric on Angi, and Mr. Patterson contacted me promptly the next day. I live in an older home that had started to develop electrical issues. Mr. Patterson worked dillegently to not only diagnose the main problem, but took the initiative to fix some minor issues he found along the way. I felt his prices were very reasonable for the work performed."
Prep to mark and protect wall
Using enough wire to rework in the future.
Installed ground up to match other home outlets. (It makes zero difference other that looks, I always match the house.)

"7 Stars!! Great Service!! It felt like I was walking into my HOME for the first time. Krueger Electric was an experienced team who performed and informed me about my Electrical Upgrades. I had the service upgraded to 200 amp, along with the mast, service cable, cable covering, replacement of box and breakers, new outlets and wiring and grounding. The team was excited about the work they performed and really did an amazing job. Krueger Electric paid attention to my particular situation, was patient and willing to work with me on price and scheduling. They saved me money so I am hiring them for another project. Personal thanks for answering an emergency call in the middle of the night! Great value, responsive, great quality, and great price. Two thumbs up!"

"WB Lightning Rods did an excellent job installing lightening rods on our home. The owner stayed onsite the entire time to supervise the work. He took extra care to plan the rod and cable placement to ensure the proper protection and retain the aesthetics of our home. His crew were knowledgeable, polite, neat and efficient. We could not be more pleased with the results."

"It went great, this is a unique service, for DIY-ers. My electric dryer wouldn’t heat, so I went on line and diagnosed the problem and ordered the parts. I also watched several how to videos, but none of them matched my dryer. Finally went on Angie’s list and it matched me up with Tin Lizzee which is a chat service to help you through your repair. The technician I talked with was polite, professional, and knowledgeable. I did get stuck during the repair and they called me on my cell and talked me through what I needed to do. I know I saved a lot of money by not having an appliance repair person come to my house with the mark up on parts and labor rates per hour I believe I saved at least half of the cost, if not more from ordering on line and chatting and talking to the Tin Lizzee technician, it was $30 well spent."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Electrical meter risers connect your home’s electrical meter to overhead power lines so you can receive electrical service from the grid. Electrical meters also have a weatherhead, which protects the utility lines connected to your home’s electrical system via the service entrance cable. Risers connect the weatherhead to your electrical meter socket, which connects to the meter.

Qualified, licensed electricians will charge from $50 to $100 per hour. The cost to hire an electrician for emergency visits may range from $100 to $200 per hour because this urgent service usually takes place during off hours and may require an electrician to leave or reschedule jobs they’re currently working on. Scheduling work on holidays or during periods of high customer demand, like after a major storm, will also lead to higher rates or extra fees.

Yes, an electrical fire can start even if nothing is plugged into an outlet. While a correctly functioning outlet poses no risk, a fire can be caused by faulty wiring, damaged outlet components, an overloaded circuit, or other electrical problems hidden behind the walls. If you suspect a fault, immediately turn off the circuit breaker and contact a professional electrician to diagnose and repair the issue.

To prevent a plug from overheating, always ensure that the electrical load connected to the plug does not exceed the plug's capacity. If the plug feels hot to the touch or emits a burning smell, immediately shut off the circuit breaker and unplug all devices from the hot outlet. Prevent electrical fires by avoiding using extension cords or adapters with the plug, as they can cause it to overheat due to increased resistance. Additionally, ensure that the plug is properly inserted into the outlet and that the outlet is not damaged or loose.

The easiest way to determine the amperage of your electrical outlets is to check the corresponding breaker in your home’s breaker panel. The number is likely noted on the circuit breaker. If that fails, it’s possible to tell 15-amp and 20-amp outlets apart by looking at them. Fifteen-amp outlets have two vertical holes, while 20-amp outlets have one vertical hole and one T-shaped hole.
