"I have had multiple subcontractors while building our house. Bobby was the best! His work is fabulous. He communicated before, during and after the project - along with pictures! He meant what he said and said what he meant! A rarity these days! I would hire him again in a heartbeat!"

"If you need estimates or a job done, call Simply Insulation. Their auditors are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They tell you what you need and what you don't need. Honesty goes a long way when hiring someone to perform insulation and more in your home. I've dealt with them on a regular basis, trying to figure out some ways to set up a work scope. Every employee I came in contact with treated me as a person, not just a customer. Joel was great at communicating with me. The 2 auditors that came out were friendly and knowledgeable..didn't cut any corners when advising me of what weatherization my home needed. Nate and Dave did an amazing job on everything they did for me and my home. I trusted them to make sure things were done thoroughly and properly. I had no worries. They answered all my questions and both were extremely professional and knowledgeable. I cant thank them enough for the fantastic job they did . A very thoughral evaluation was done. I'm very happy and satisfied with the outcome..thank you Simply insulation and Happy Holidays to you. If you have a mobile home, house, raised ranch, camp, cabin etc, call them for your estimate. Use them..they are trustworthy and honest."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

When installing metal siding, a high-quality house wrap is considered the best protection against condensation and moisture infiltration. House wraps can increase a home's efficiency significantly. However, a house wrap is not a replacement for a vapor barrier because it can be permeable when moist air passes through siding. This is why it's essential to follow manufacturer instructions for insulating siding when installing new siding.

To cover your HVAC ducts and air vents during construction, use plastic sheets or drop cloths secured with painter's tape. Be sure to cover all supply vents on your floors and walls, as well as the larger HVAC return vent, which is typically on the ceiling. While canvas drop cloths can also be used, they may not catch all the fine dust. It is crucial to shut off your HVAC system or at least the zone where construction is happening. Running the system with vents sealed can put significant strain on the blower motor and air handler. For additional dust containment, you can also hang plastic sheets over doorways to separate the construction area from the rest of your home.

Spray foam insulation doesn’t do well around heat sources. Therefore, You can use spray foam insulation to seal around HVAC boots that penetrate through the drywalls or around where wrapped ducts connect to the boots, but we don’t recommend using spray foam insulation to encapsulate your air ducts. Spray foam insulation on air ducts is also less effective compared to duct wraps.

The most affordable way to insulate behind unfinished walls is to install fiberglass batts or rolls. These total around $0.75 per linear foot, with the width matching the gaps between standard studs perfectly. However, it’s important to consider the R-value of your insulation and the climate in your area, as fiberglass insulation isn’t the best in terms of preventing heat transfer. Plus, the most affordable option may cost more on electricity bills over time. The most affordable way to insulate behind finished walls is to leave them up and use blown-in insulation to avoid drywall replacement.

Bubble wrap is better for moving since it can be cut to size, whereas dish foam comes in precut sheets that are harder to manipulate. However, if you’re packing items like dishes, wine glasses, picture frames, or mirrors, dish foam will protect them better. Ensure you measure your box beforehand so you know what size dish foam to purchase.
