"These guys, Dave and Zach are very honest guys. They came to my house to check out what needed to be done and went over the whole thing with me. They carefully dug a trench/hole in my yard and repair a section of pipe that was damaged and leaking sewer into my yard. They came the next day with their equipment and had it fixed and cleaned up by sun down. I will call them again if I need any more work."

Small jobs welcome

"HVAC Repair A few days after our yearly inspection from our normal HVAC company, our ac began to struggle during a heatwave. Instead of calling back the same company, I decided to have someone else come take a look. Jonathan Hollins was highly recommended. Upon arrival he invited me to shadow him so that I could see exactly what he was doing. It only took a few minutes for him to identify the problem. While inspecting the outdoor condenser unit, he noticed that the fan was spinning backwards, and that the capacitor connections were reversed. After making the necessary correction, Jonathan continued to do a thorough check of our system. Thankfully, no other issues were found. Within a few minutes, we could feel the difference inside the house. I'm happy when my wife is happy. Also, the price was lower much than expected. I highly recommend Hollins Mechanical Services. He was very professional and more importantly, very honest and trustworthy. We plan to use him for any future needs."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

No, it isn’t necessarily bad to turn your AC on and off frequently—contrary to popular belief. Even if you stop and start your AC throughout the day, it won’t use as much energy as it would if you ran it nonstop.

If you’re concerned about your power consumption and energy costs, there are a few simple ways to use your AC more efficiently. Regularly cleaning the filters, scheduling routine maintenance, and using a programmable thermostat are all great choices.

When faced with HVAC issues, it's best to begin by ensuring the thermostat settings are correct for either heating or cooling. If the system isn't responding, check the thermostat for proper function and power supply. It's also important to examine air filters, as clogged ones can decrease performance. Confirm the power supply to the system by checking the circuit breakers and fuses. If these basic steps fail to resolve the issue, contact an HVAC professional for a more detailed diagnosis and repair.

Replacing both an AC and a furnace takes a full day on average, ranging from eight to 12 hours. The process involves removing the old units, installing the new ones, and ensuring all connections are properly made. If both systems are being replaced simultaneously, it can take longer than installing a furnace alone, so plan accordingly.

Yes, you can run an attic fan with the AC on. In fact, you don’t have a choice with a passive attic fan. Plus, when an attic fan draws out hot air from the attic, it helps regulate the temperature of your whole home, so your AC doesn't have to work as hard.

Traditional central air conditioning systems require ductwork to circulate air throughout the home. Alternatively, you can add air conditioning with a mini-split ductless air conditioning system, which can be just as energy efficient as a central air conditioner. This type of system consists of two units–an outside unit that holds the compressor and condenser and an indoor unit that holds an air-handler. With multi-zone ductless systems, there are multiple indoor air handlers tied to a single outdoor compressor/condenser, allowing the system to cool multiple rooms.
