"I had a ceiling fan installed today by Ajay from G&R Electrical, inc. He was very friendly, respectful, professional and he explained what he was doing and what he had to do. The price was right. I would recommend this company to a family member, friend or use them again for myself. This is the second fan this company installed for me.I found this company though Home Depot when I purchased my ceiling fan. Thank you again Ajay! Stay safe and blessed."

"David is an amazing electrician. He is timely & reliable. I have referred him to numerous family and friends including my boss. All of them have been happy. He works on ethics and does not overcharge for the job like most. He is an electrical wiz & just a blessing to have in your corner when you’re experiencing a tough electrical issue or wanting to add something new to your home. He is a must hire on my list. "I just want it on the record that Antonio not only beat my expectations on a job well done, it was actually a job greatly done! But his quote never changed. As we all know, when it comes to finding pros that stick to their promises, they are far and few between. Ferrao Electric is one of those finds! I highly recommend them. They could have charged me double and I would not have been the wiser, since the project was beyond my understanding. Even after doing a web search, their price was below what others would have charged. Antonio is that rare find, an honest business man! Pleasant and involved in all aspects of job. He is my go to guy from this day forward. I’ve been running my own business for over 30 years and I have a saying “Run a great business, but also run your business great” He checked all the boxes! Figuratively and literally. Thank you Antonio, you have restored my faith in getting great results from a real pro! I highly recommend this company for all your electrical needs. Totally stress free!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

The cost to replace or install an electrical outlet can vary. On average, you can expect to pay between $125 and $215 per outlet, including labor and materials. For a standard 120v outlet, the material cost is typically between $10 and $50. Labor costs for an electrician usually range from $50 to $100 per hour. The total cost can be higher if there are complex electrical issues to resolve. Specialized outlets like GFCI or high-voltage types can cost up to $50 each for the material alone. If you are replacing many outlets throughout your home, the total project cost could be between $900 and $3,000, but you may receive a better per-outlet rate from the electrician.

The average cost to hire an electrician is around $350. However, every electrical job varies in scope, materials, and labor involved, so while you will likely pay anywhere between $85 and $1,100 for standard jobs, a project like rewiring a house can cost up to $30,000. You might also pay slightly higher prices if you need emergency work done or if the work involves accessing a hard-to-reach area in your home, like an attic or cramped crawlspace. You should ask your electrician for an estimate before agreeing to the work.

The easiest way to determine the amperage of your electrical outlets is to check the corresponding breaker in your home’s breaker panel. The number is likely noted on the circuit breaker. If that fails, it’s possible to tell 15-amp and 20-amp outlets apart by looking at them. Fifteen-amp outlets have two vertical holes, while 20-amp outlets have one vertical hole and one T-shaped hole.

If a 3-way switch is wired incorrectly, this can cause several issues. The most common problem is that the switches will not function properly: Either both switches won’t work, or only one will. Another issue is that one switch will trigger a short circuit, tripping the circuit breaker.

Light switches can last for decades when installed and maintained correctly. Improper wiring, heavy wear and tear, or too much wattage draw can cause light switch failure long before the expected end of a light switch’s life. Light switches that are hot to the touch, making a buzzing noise, or failing to work consistently should be inspected to find and repair the underlying cause.
