"We replaced our bathtub with a walk in shower, and are extremely happy with the work that was provided. In only took one person 6 hours to complete the job, and he was very professional and the quality of work was great. Would hire them again."

"

This was a $499 big deal purchase. Everything went well. Their customer service needs a little help, though.  Apparently there are two brothers that run this company. My wife was dealing with all of this. It took them a couple of weeks to get them to come out and measure it. Then they were supposed to come on Tuesday and they never showed up. They canceled because somebody was sick and they had to go do another job. It was like, so our business is not as important as somebody else's. When I called they said they were coming tomorrow and they screwed up the schedule. Our kitchen area was bigger than the amount of square feet specified in the deal so it ended up costing us about $300 more. It looked as though they were looking to nickel and dime things to get them back to what they usually would charge. It seems to me that if you offer a deal on Angie's List you should not nickel and dime to get it back to your price. If you are going to do that, then don't offer a deal because you are supposed to be getting quantity of work out of a deal so your customers are happy. It could very well be the fact that the two brothers don't talk to each other. They need to better coordinate their company as far as scheduling and stuff like that. The area looks clean when they finished. I was not here during the work, my wife was, but it looks like they cleaned up. I don't know why it ended up being $300 more. When my wife spoke with them before they started working they told her to go out and buy the grout. They said they could supply the grout, but there would be an extra charge. I was almost ready to cancel the deal and find somebody else with better customer service.

"I used KWD Electric 2 times in the recent past and was planning to write a review after the 3rd and final visit to my mother's house. The first to jobs went well, one "simple" (replacing 6 outlets) and one "complex" upgrading the service panel plus a couple other items. Ken was late both times and his responsiveness to my initial contact took a little too long but I overlooked that. The 3rd visit he was to replace all switches and outlets in the kitchen (after the renovation). On July 30th Ken's email stated a quote would follow in a  day or two. It is now August 26th and I am still waiting. Needless to say this is very rude and extremely unprofessional.

Update: Ken did apologize for forgetting and stated he would not take on more than he could schedule.

9-4-2013 Update: Thank you Ken for the offer of a few free hours of labor. I may consider this the next time I need some electrical work done."

"We have had many contractors working various projects in our home. None have been as professional and willing to work with us as George has. This project was a complete gutting and creation of a new bathroom. George's proposal was right on our hoped price. Work began on schedule. Each stage was explained to us. He was very patient. His work is a demonstration of pride, and his craftsmanship is unrivaled. We used tiles with multiple colors. George actually painted the walls and ceiling three times. The painting was done with enthusiasm, until we finally had the exact color that made the bathroom perfect. Stop Leak Plumbing? You won't do better"

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

Start by gutting the old fixtures and features that need to be removed, such as the tile, vanity, and flooring. You may benefit by removing the toilet, even if you intend to use the same one. Next, install the new shower or tub, followed by the flooring, and then the drywall, which you should then paint. After that, install your new cabinets, vanity, countertop, sink, and faucet, in that order. Replace your light fixture next. Lastly, reconnect the toilet.

Fiberglass tubs last between 10 and 15 years or more if they’re well-maintained. Proper care will help them last as long as possible. However, fiberglass bathtubs are prone to cracking, fading, and scratches over time. Bathtub installation by a plumber is one of the best ways to ensure your tub has the right support to last its full lifespan.

If you have an alcove in your bathroom, you don’t necessarily need to install an alcove tub. You can choose a drop-in tub and fit the frame to the alcove. This allows you to get a more custom or spa-like look. Think cultured marble or tiling for the frame versus the simpler look of acrylic or fiberglass with an alcove tub.

Of the two most common and affordable bathtub materials, acrylic is notably better. Though fiberglass is cheaper, it is also more prone to scratching, chipping, fading, and cracking. Acrylic holds up better to wear and tear, cleaning, and sun exposure; the slight cost increase is usually worth the increased longevity.

Yes, a bathroom remodel is a worthwhile home improvement project that typically adds value to your home, offering a return on investment (ROI) between 60% and 70%. Potential buyers look closely at bathrooms and kitchens, as these are often the most expensive rooms to renovate. A modern, updated bathroom is more appealing and assures buyers that the plumbing, fixtures, and flooring have a long, useful life ahead. Beyond the financial return, a remodel can also greatly increase your day-to-day satisfaction by creating a more inviting, spa-like space. Even a basic refresh with new paint and accessories can make a significant difference.
