Humberto, his son, and their team replaced drywall, baseboards, primed and painted both rooms. They redid the laundry room floors, and the vanity in the bathroom. Everything looks amazing, and we have already discussed with them if they can redo the rest of downstairs, paint upstairs and my kitchen cabinets. They are VERY NEAT workers, always cleaning as they go. They’re reliable, trustworthy and you can tell they aren’t just in it for the money. Humberto is really compassionate."

"Dave Nessel and his stellar company, Unique Construction NY Inc. are the BEST. Allow me tell you why- On May 15th 2022 at 5:45 p.m., my house was hit by, what electrical engineers later estimated, was at least 80,000 volts of lightning. That huge, direct surge of energy destroyed all the systems and contents that made my house more than four walls and a roof. In addition to the bolt of lightning destroying all the systems in the house, it caused a violent, destructive fire. Thankfully I was home at the time of the incident, or the house would have quickly burned down all the way down and my pets would have suffered a terrible fate. Still, after all was said and done what had been my home for seventeen years was reduced to nothing more than an outer shell. I was immediately forced into the position to find, hire, and organize tradesmen from all specialties, negotiate the endless complexities of homeowners insurance, all while trying to find a place to live and continuing my self-employed full-time work schedule. It quickly became clear I needed the services of a general contractor. I interviewed a couple, but as soon as I met Dave I knew he was the man for the job. Dave was always on time or early. He went through the house with a fine tooth comb for hours, noticing things and problems from the destruction I hadn't noticed. His expertise of every level of construction and understanding of all aspects of housing systems (electrical, plumbing, etc) was unmatched by anyone else I had interviewed. Additionally he had an understanding of the homeowner insurance protocols and was able to interject as a supporting role (only when needed, Dave never undermined me -I'm a single female homeowner-) with professional, easy to read, paperwork, accurately demonstrating all costs. I'm confident his detailed documentation made the long slog of negotiations with my insurance representatives a little easier. Under his expert guidance, his company gutted and rebuilt my old house to beautifully modern standards while maintaining its historical charm. The rebuild came in precisely on budget and two weeks early. "It hard to overstate how wonderful an experience my family had with Hire Her Home Improvement. Angela and her team were consummate professionals from our first contact to when the job wrapped. Angela (the owner) was impressively responsive, collaborative and spoke frankly about what work was feasible, what would be challenging and what things would cost. Her friendly, frank and collaborative nature made me trust her immediately. We had planned to start the attic renovation in mid March but a slot opened up in her schedule and we wound up starting six weeks early. The first thing that caught my attention was how prompt they were. If the start time was 8am, they would be outside at 7:55. As a professional project manager, that really made me happy. Angela’s crew (Jason and Steve) and the subcontractors were all expert craftsmen and worked efficiently, collaboratively and took wonder care to protect the rest of my home. One instance I want to call out was how one day I was delayed in coming home from running an errand. While I was out, the work wrapped for the day but Jason didn’t have a key lock the house. So Jason had the rest of the crew go home and he waited on my porch until I got home. I was just blown away. Last but not least, I want to talk about the work. They took a completely unfinished uninsulated 350 sq foot space in my attic and turned it in to a fantastic office space that’s quickly become my favorite room in the house. Everything was beautifully finished and every detail was considered. On her final walk through, Angela ever saw a few small things that she wanted to push further and had the crew come back and make a few tweaks.
