"Great company! I called and scheduled for a sweep and inspection of my fireplace. While the technician was there he noticed some spots on my chimney that needed repair and quoted me on the spot. The workmen who came out were wonderful, polite and very informative. I would recommend Felgemacher to anyone who wants quality work in a timely manner."

"I was immediately impressed with WNY Roofing. When I called for an estimate, they returned the call the same day to set up an appointment. Others took several days to return my call, if they called at all. I met with Anthony, who noticed issues with my roof that I knew about, while others did not. Anthony is very professional, knowledgeable, and straightforward, which I found very refreshing. One portion of our roof had blown off during the winds in March. This caused a leak and damage to an interior room. The day we signed our contract, Anthony sent a worker to place temporary roofing on that area. to prevent any more leaks. They did not use a tarp or plastic sheeting to cover the area, instead they actually used roofing tiles, and that really pleased us. Also, because we experienced damage, WNY Roofing gave us priority booking. Within three weeks, our roof was completed, even though their normal schedule would have placed us at 6-8 weeks. On the day of work, I talked with Anthony, who went over everything that was being done. They use Owens Corning shingles, which arrived first. When the crew arrived, the Foreman, Dan, discussed everything with me just as Anthony had done. He also went over step by step what would be done to our chimney, which also had issues. The crew was not only professional, but were respectful of our property as well as my family. We now have a beautiful roof that should last us for decades. We are extremely pleased. I know I made the right choice with WNY Roofing. ...Dan, the Foreman, also mentioned that they do interior work. I think I'm going to call them about my damaged room..."

"It was ridiculous. They did not do a very good job as far as I'm concerned. It's a so-so job. They were supposed to do all these flashings and tarring around different things. We still have the leaks like some of the people around here. They've had water go right through their roof. I don't know if their job prevented that or is it just our roof was okay. The guy was great. He was nice and he wasa a good guy. I wanted him to come back out because we're having the leak around the chimney where they were supposed to flash and it was still leaking. When I asked them to do that, they said that it would be another charge. I didn't get any value for price. The guy who came to do the job was pretty professional. I was not happy. It was like throwing $99 down the drain."

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

If a range hood has minor issues, the average repair costs $85 to $210. This accounts for both parts and labor. More extensive damage can cost as much as $300 to $500, at which point it may be worth considering completely replacing the range hood.

A range hood is an exhaust fan for your kitchen, and several types and styles exist. They are meant to remove grease, moisture, and fumes from your stove. Although some models filter and recirculate the air, the most effective ones remove the air through a duct that’s vented to the outdoors.

No, range hoods do not necessarily have to be vented outside. Ductless or non-vented range hoods are available, which are common in condos or small kitchens where connecting to external ductwork isn't feasible. These hoods operate by taking in air, filtering it through charcoal filters to help eliminate smoke and odors, and then recirculating the cleaned air back into the kitchen. However, while these recirculating hoods are more versatile, venting to the outside is still the preferred and more effective method for completely removing smoke, odors, and gases from the room.

A higher CFM will make the price of your range hood more expensive. It can be challenging to speculate how much the CFM rating affects price, but ductless range hoods—that don’t need as high of a CFM as ducted range hoods—are less expensive than their alternative. On average, ductless hoods cost between $100 and $300, while ducted hoods can cost as much as $1,000.

Neglected maintenance can lead to odors, fire hazards, impaired airflow, and reduced range and hood operation efficiency.
