Small jobs welcome

"Marty and crew are good at installing drywall in timely matter. My only negative comment is did nothing to clean up drywall dust. I would recommend them to other potential customers looking for quick install of drywall. Thanks Marty."

"We hired M. Snyder Construction to replace 3 ceilings. This was demo and waste disposal through to finish paint. They started and finished according to the schedule. Mike even took my tenantâ s schedule in mind when planning his time frame. While the dumpster was still on site, Mike let us dispose of construction waste we had gathered up from another project. The entire crew is courteous, trustworthy, professional and capable. I was a Designer at an architectural firm that did historic restoration. I have done many a punch list. I had NO post job issues that needed addressing. We heartily recommend M. Snyder Construction"

"I can’t say enough good things about MCE Construction! They recently assembled a swing set for my daughter, and their team was nothing short of amazing. Not only were they incredibly friendly and easy to work with, but their work ethic was truly impressive. On the first day, they showed up ready to go, even as the weather turned from light rain to full-on thunder and lightning. Despite my best efforts to convince them to get warm and dry, they pushed through, determined to get as much done as possible. Eventually, they did head out for safety, but they were back early the next morning and didn’t stop until the entire swing set was perfectly assembled. Their dedication and commitment to quality work, even under tough conditions, really stood out. I’m incredibly grateful for their hard work and professionalism, and I’ll definitely be using MCE Construction again for future projects. Highly recommend"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, drywall can hold a 50-pound TV. However, when mounting a TV, you’ll either need to attach it to wall studs or use drywall anchors. If you use anchors, make sure to buy a type that can hold at least 50 pounds. Molly bolts, threaded anchors, and toggle bolts are all good options. For extra support, you can also install a wall mounting plate with the anchors.

Pros ensure smooth finishes and lasting repairs, avoiding visible patches.

Fixing ceiling nail pops involves similar steps to wall repair, with the major difference being the orientation of the work. Ceiling nail pops can be more challenging because you may need to work overhead, which can be physically demanding and require additional safety precautions. Additionally, the ceiling may have different materials or finishes, such as textured surfaces, which can affect the repair process. Otherwise, the fundamental steps are the same.

The easiest way to tell if a wall is load bearing is to check if it’s an exterior wall or if it runs perpendicular to the joists above and below it (or parallel to beams). Exterior walls are almost always load-bearing, and walls that run under beams or parallel to them are also usually load-bearing. There are exceptions to these rules, and walls that don’t fit into these categories can still be load-bearing. If you’re unsure, hire a structural engineer to look at your home to assess whether or not the wall is structural.

You’ll want to inspect your plaster walls for signs of damage before painting. If you notice soft spots, deep cracks, bubbling, or areas where the plaster is crumbling or pulling away from the wall, it likely needs repair. While small hairline cracks are common and likely cosmetic, you should address larger issues before painting to ensure a quality, smooth finish.
