"The job that Mario and his assistants did remodeling our guest bath was exceptional. The crew was prompt, professional, courteous, and highly skilled in the field of remodeling work. Our bathroom was gutted and completely replaced in just 4 1/2 days. Cleanup was done daily with care and Mario was always available to answer questions. We highly recommend this company for any remodeling or construction project!"

I take pride in offering clients peace of mind by understanding their needs and being flexible with scheduling. Recently I've gained experience in construction and handyman work to add to my repertoire. \nI clean thoroughly and fast, leaving your house feeling brand new in a matter of hours!

"Doty’s restored and refinished a series of large cedar beams on our front porch that had suffered significant weathering and deterioration since the home was built just 5 years earlier. The work was very well planned in advance taking into account a number of specific issues involved with materials and the adjacent home structure. The quality of the work was excellent and the end result looks better than when the porch was originally constructed. Throughout the process, communication was prompt and direct. Overall we give Doty’s our highest recommendation without hesitation."

"Absolutely the BEST. I could go on and on about their professionalism, their cleanliness, their ability to address some rather complex issues as part of the project, but what really stands out is their ability to accept our changes (mid project) without complaint to make sure we were happy. Can’t wait to work with them again!"

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can add a bathroom to an unfinished basement, but you’ll want to take proper precautions if doing so. As with any bathroom addition, you’ll need to make sure that it’s approved by local building authorities first. With unfinished basements, you especially need to keep an eye on proper ventilation practices.

Yes, you can add a kitchenette to a basement. However, you’ll have to consider the costs associated with basement kitchenettes. If you’re starting from scratch in an unfinished basement, you’ll need to account for brand-new plumbing, electrical, flooring, and more in addition to the cost of the kitchenette. If you’re putting a kitchenette in an already finished basement equipped with plumbing and electrical, you’ll save considerable money.

When considering finishing your basement, take into account a few pros and cons:

Pros

  • Can increase the value of your home

  • Separate space from the rest of the house

  • Customize and personalize the basement to suit your needs and style

  • Increase the amount of living space in your home

Cons

  • May not regain enough value to cover the cost of finishing

  • Lack of natural light if it’s below ground level

  • Moisture or flooding can cause costly damage

  • Installing plumbing and electrical can be messy and costly

Efficient appliance positioning, optimizing existing plumbing, and sourcing energy-efficient materials reduce financial impact and increase sustainability.

You technically can paint wires in a basement ceiling, but there are several important safety and code considerations. It's safe to paint non-metallic sheathed cable as long as the labeling remains visible. You can also paint low-voltage wires and conduit and junction boxes to help them blend into your basement.

However, you should not paint damaged or deteriorated wiring is a fire hazard because it poses a fire hazard. The same goes for painting over high-heat wires that connect to heat-generating appliances or systems. Be sure to avoid painting multiple coats onto any wires, as that traps heat and poses fire risks.
