"A&J countertops exceeded my expectations completely. I had been trying to find someone to install a laminate countertop since memorial day and no one would even return my calls. Jo from A&J called me and within 3 weeks I had the countertop installed in my kitchen. Professional, courteous, knowledgeable, personable, I can't say enough to express how pleased I am with this company. I highly recommend this company."

"Hector and Moises were excellent! Hector came with one other of their crew and assembled my permanent gazebo. I have stone pavers and they were very careful in cutting them and digging Deep enough to establish a good anchor. They even installed railings for my back stoop. I would highly recommend them! Clean... affordable and professional."

"After interviewing several companies to remodel our bathroom we met with Bob, the president of US Home Remodeling Team Corp., and we knew right away that this was the company we want. Remodeling a bathroom can be daunting but Bob sensed that and quickly put us at easy letting us know that he will be guiding us through the entire process; and he did! His team were an amazing group of talented and personable professionals who arrived when the said they would, were accommodating to our schedule when needed and always left our home as clean as when they arrived. They were always ready to share their expertise and discuss anything from tile size to plumbing fixtures with us. Some last minute adjustments we requested were never a problem. If you are looking for a company that does great work, at a fair price and you can feel very comfortable with in your home, I highly recommend this team."

"Angel did a bathroom gut for me which included tile, plumbing, electric, painting. The job ran right on schedule. they work clean and neat. He was able to help choose perfect colors and wall paper. He was very responsive and did exactly what he said he was going to do. This is the 3rd time I hired him and I would have no hesitation hiring him again."

"The project ran smoothly, on time, and on budget. Dave and his team were professional, clarified issues before they became problems, and left no loose ends. The project involved the demolition of existing built-in cabinets and a massive, green-tiled shower that was designed with one purpose in mind - growing mold. We increased the footprint of the 10x11 sq ft room by reclaiming space from an adjacent oversized walk-in closet, which made a perfect alcove for a new free-standing tub. The tile installation was done to perfection, and the installation of all components, including the neo-angle door was completed without issue. To their credit, the team helped us isolate a crack in the new Kohler toilet and installed the replacement part without complaint. We're looking forward to working with JBL on our next project."

Small jobs welcome

"Pat was upfront about everything. Efficient, clean and did what was I needed done. He took on multiple annoying jobs I couldn't do and did them well. Jason helped on my cabinets doors that were installed poorly years ago. I am happy with the work and glad I called for them to do the work."

"My house is now over 30 years old and was starting to show its age. I called Pristine, initially, to rebuild an upstairs deck that was starting to separate from the house. Nick (the owner) did such a wonderful job that I hired him to remodel my 3 bathrooms, tile the ground floor, and build a large bedroom closet. Everything was done on time, on budget (his prices were fair and reasonable), and most importantly, all his work is done with pride and the kind of old school workmanship that you don't see that much of anymore. He was always polite and a pleasure to have in the house. At the end of every day Nick cleaned up the worksite and never left any mess. This man is a gentleman, a professional, knows his stuff, and does not take shortcuts. I can recommend Pristine without any reservations for any home construction project you may have. You will not be dissappointed."

"The owner/ contractor Joe was a wonderful , competent and courteous person. All the contracted work was done very helpfully as to choosing supplies which were all top quality. His very competent and responsible crew Rolando and Leo made a usually stressful endeavor pleasant. The new shower converted from a tub and tile walls and floor were installed beautifully. They even installed a folding chair for the shower which we requested. Very clean and responsible. In addition and most important is that the final price for this job did not deviate from the proposed price which was very fair. No unexpected extras!! We were very pleased with our choice of AJC Homes"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

DIY is possible for small projects. Professional services ensure precision and long-lasting results.

Grout lines should typically be between 1/8 to 3/16 inch thick. This ensures enough room for the grout to dry properly and makes them wide enough to look clean and professional. If grout lines are too small, it can be easier to see imperfections in the spacing.

As long as you follow the instructions on your peel-and-stick tile packaging, it should not damage your walls. A possible instance when you may accidentally damage your walls is if you install tiles improperly using additional adhesives that aren’t recommended.

Also, you can damage your walls if you’re not careful when removing tile. For example, you could accidentally make holes in the drywall with a paint scraper if you don’t heat the adhesive long enough before trying to pry it off.

Yes, but you should only put tile directly on drywall in smaller areas that don’t experience excess moisture. For example, a small kitchen tile backsplash could work, but installing tile directly on the drywall in a bathroom or other chronically damp area is not a good idea. Either way, a cement backer board is a far more reliable solution, as drywall is susceptible to moisture and can warp or cause your tiles to crack.

No, when done correctly, removing the tile shouldn’t damage the subfloor. However, if there was pre-existing damage to the subfloor from standard use or lack of maintenance, the subfloor may need repairs. For example, if the contractors notice mold growth on the subfloor or an uneven surface, you may need more extensive services before installing new tile.

If you DIY tile removal, remove the tiles one step at a time, individually removing the tile, grout, and mortar to prevent unnecessarily damaging the subfloor. Depending on the age of your home, consider having a professional inspect the subfloor to ensure it’s in good enough condition to lay new tile.
