"Outstanding service! Prompt and thorough inspection. Friendly and professional service, expert knowledge to understand and explain the nature and impact of extensive mold damage to my home and items within. Fast referral to remediation companies with far better service than Servpro. Stay away from the larger companies. I recommend ONLY TURN KEY HOME INSPECTIONS for any and all inspections. Having been consulted by the larger competitors, working with would have been a huge mistake. Thank you, Turn Key!"

"Rick has a wealth of knowledge / information / experience, he's a true inspection PRO and the advice he provided me regarding the remediation of mold was invaluable. After confirming the issue, he directed me through the process necessary to completely resolve all issues. He provided a final inspection & report confirming the positive results and the cost was extremely reasonable. Rick went way above and beyond providing consistent advice & feedback throughout the entire process. For your inspection needs or to correctly resolve significant inspection issues, the only person to call is Rick Bates...you'll be happy you did and you can't go wrong."

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

"Although a slight problem at the beginning with both ends finding a mutually agreeable time to meet to discuss the project, I felt a good job was done by TriCounty Remodelers. Initial options were asked about and a secondary solution was agreed upon after some more local research was completed. A slight push back was experienced, but that was due to uncooperative weatherfor the initial start of the project. Better options were also offered and accepted in the doing of the project. The project was fully completed in the time alloted. All demolished materials were removed after work was completed each day. I will be having more work performed by these professionals during the next constructuion season in 2010."

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Mold can grow quickly in wet carpet: in as little as 12 to 24 hours. That’s why it is crucial to take action immediately if there’s any sign of water damage under your floor. Remove as much water as possible with a shop vac and towels, then use baking soda to help remove moisture deep in the fibers. Always steam clean the carpet or use an antibacterial carpet sanitizer to kill any mold growth.

Before you start removing mold, turn off the furnace. Clean away any visible mold from accessible areas using a mixture of water and mild detergent. Change air filters and check for moisture sources like leaks. If the problem persists or it's widespread, hire a local HVAC company for professional cleaning.

In most cases, cloudy tap water is safe to drink, as the cause is often harmless air bubbles. A simple test is to let a glass of water sit for a few minutes; if the cloudiness dissipates, it was likely just trapped air. However, you cannot be certain of the water's safety without knowing the cause or performing a water test. If the cloudiness is persistent, comes with yellow or brown discoloration, or is accompanied by plumbing issues, it may pose a health risk. In such cases, it is best to call a local plumber to find the cause.

Just because you find mold in your home does not mean you need to pursue professional remediation services. You can often clean small amounts of surface mold, such as in bathrooms or on windowsills, using household products. However, extensive mold growth, persistent odors, or mold caused by water damage require professional remediation. A good rule of thumb is to hire a pro when the mold is in an area larger than 10 square feet, poses health risks, or affects the structural integrity of your home.

Professionals suggest through ventilation, source removal, or filtration systems.
