"I am very satisfied with the work. I had Logan paint the exterior of my home and replace many of the weathered facia boards. It was done in a timely manner and there was great communication throughout. I would recommend LMPS to anyone looking."

"The painter's were early starters, and very good at masking windows, etc. The only drawback was the weather. After finishing the front of the house, they left and it rained hard enough that the stain on lower part of the siding was washed off. This was beyond their control, and overall they were professional, communicated well, and cared about their work. The owner, Bob Carone was very helpful in choosing stain color, and repairs that needed to be done, and Lonnie and his crew were very good at doing the job. I too would use them again if the need arises."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

Sanding surfaces, repairing damage, cleaning thoroughly, and using quality primers are all steps you can take for exterior home painting.

Professional lead-paint abatement companies use a variety of methods to remove lead-based paint, depending on each particular situation. Some of the most common methods include:

  • Total removal: $8–$17 per square foot

  • Demolition and replacement: $1,000–$15,000 per project

  • Encapsulation: $4 per square foot

  • Enclosure: $10 per square foot

  • Chemical stripping: $10–$17 per square foot

You don’t necessarily have to remove all the old paint before repainting your deck, but it’s best to remove as much as possible to ensure a smooth and long-lasting finish. Prioritize scraping off loose, peeling, or flaking paint, and sand down rough areas to create a smooth surface for the new paint to bond with.

The easiest and fastest way to remove paint from a surface is to use a chemical paint stripper to loosen the paint and then remove the paint using a paint scraper. You can also speed up the process by making the area as accessible as possible, which could include removing window sashes or taking doors off the hinges.

When a window is painted shut, this means that paint has gotten into the cracks when window sashes or window frames were being painted. It’s pretty easy for this sort of thing to happen while painting, but sometimes homeowners will use paint to seal drafty windows, which will often cause them to get stuck shut.
