"Would not recommend for any project. Wanted more money than was agreed & walked off leaving his partner to collect payment. We agreed on $3,500 for labor & my husband would help as a go-fer, using our tractor to move the pre-built sections of deck, post hole digger & other tasks. We also provided a cement mixer & most of the hardware & lumber. The job started off wrong & went downhill. Since the deck was placed right at the edge of the house, there was no way to build a landing & tie in the ramp without going 6 ft. into the driveway. The 5 posts to attach the deck & roof, vary in distance apart by as much as 1 ft. The roof rafters vary between 24" & 28" apart, vary in length by 3" & most are on an angle. The roof overhang was to be 2 ft. but is only 16". The metal roof panels were cut too short & are uneven, so, no gutter. Now the faceplate & deck get soaked when it rains. After 4 days, Dean said he wanted $4,500 for the work done so far & extra for the stairs, landing & gutter."

We have a small background the ability to provide smaller lawn service, landscaping, snowplowing, trimming of trees, power washing (decks, patio furniture, sidewalks driveways, windows, basement/garage floors and walls) junk removal, lawn cleanup, gutter cleaning, garbage can cleaning and automotive detailing. "The owner Chris was very quick to come out and quote the job. I asked for a contract be written up and Chris told me he would bring one when he came back to start the job. Initially Chris and his crew worked extremely hard and did an excellent job. Because of this I made the mistake of giving Chris some (cash) money up front to help him out, feeling that he was trustworthy since his crew was so diligent and worked long hours while on the job. After a few times at my house - and his stump grinder supposedly breaking - Chris asked if I could give him more money up front because he had the opportunity to buy a used stump grinder for $2,500. At the time my family was going through 2 very serious health crises and I made the mistake of never getting the written contract, and giving him money before he had completed the job. A few days after giving him the money for the stump grinder, Chris showed up, packed up all his equipment and left without finishing the job. I've since been unable to get in touch with him either by phone (2 different numbers) or by email. I still have a few trees that need to be cut down, brush ground up, and all the stumps he contracted for to be ground down. A few of the trees that he cut down were left with their trunks very high and unsightly. Unfortunately I will eventually be hiring someone new to finish the job. Save yourself a lot of trouble and find someone else. Trustworthy people do not take advantage of others when they know they are in a vulnerable state."

Since overwatering can harm mature trees just as much as a lack of water, it’s important to know the signs of an overwatered tree. Systemic herbicides are absorbed by the root and can kill off problematic roots. However, herbicides can sometimes negatively impact nearby plants, so the solution is best used sparingly.

Trees that flower in the spring—like dogwood, cherry, magnolia, and pear—should not be pruned during the winter. These spring-flowering plants grow buds on old growth, so you’ll actually remove what would’ve been gorgeous flowering foliage. Instead, wait to prune until right after they bloom, when the flowers fade.

There are two types of arborists: certified and consulting. A certified arborist is licensed and equipped to provide tree pruning, planting, fertilizing, monitoring, transplanting, treatment, and removal services. A consulting arborist specializes in tree appraisals, diagnosing problems and recommending treatments for illnesses. However, they will not provide these services themselves. Most consulting arborists are certified arborists who can refer you to a tree service that can administer the correct treatments.

Dead trees are structurally compromised and prone to branch or trunk failures—falling limbs or the entire tree can pose significant safety risks to people, nearby structures, and vehicles.
