"Hands down the best decision I made this year was hiring KBR Design & Build to redo my kitchen AND bathroom. Both spaces were so outdated, and now they feel like they belong in a design magazine. The team made the entire process stress-free (which, let’s be real, is rare with renovations), and they handled every little hiccup like pros. The attention to detail is insane, and I love that they actually listened to what I wanted instead of just doing a cookie-cutter design. Worth every penny!"

"Beyond expectation since the first visit. Mr. Calderon was puntual, listened all our ideas and gave us recommendations. His proposal considered our personalities, a modern/contemporary design. Excellent communication and respond right away. We are definitely going to hire him in future projects."

"I recently hired Ms. & Mr. Construction to build a new deck, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. They helped guide me through material choices and design options, while my budget in mind. "Block made this process very simple (or as simple as it can be), and we are really happy with the design assistance we got, as well as them walking us through the design phase, procurement, board package, etc. Would definitely use again!"

Small jobs welcome

"We hired Stefany to manage the space planning and interior design for our recently purchased 4 floor, 3700 sq/ft townhome in FL. She handled everything from start to finish. She took all measurements, assisted in space planning, sourced, purchased and coordinated the installation of new furniture, rugs, accessories and lighting fixtures for an entryway, two bedrooms, a home office, a living room, dining room, family/TV room and a guest suite. Stefany was professional, knowledgeable, listened to our requests, had great ideas and solutions and she found us some lovely new vintage pieces to mix with our own furniture. She brought out our own individual style and we could not be happier."

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

Balancing aesthetics with functionality amidst space planning is important. To do so, you could consider consulting both an interior designer and an architect to fulfill both these needs. Or you can tackle it on your own by prioritizing personal touches amidst space planning that add to the look but don't take away from the livability of the space.

Any homeowner can carry out interior decoration themselves, but many struggle to devise a cohesive and appealing design that balances comfort and aesthetics. Interior designers are not only trained in design principles, but they also design home interiors for a living, so they’re much more likely to produce a final product that meets your needs. Hiring a professional can sometimes lead to savings on the materials, as some experts know how to source more affordable decor and furniture via their professional connections.

Most interior designers have at least a four-year degree, if not an advanced degree in interior design. Additionally, many states require interior designers to be licensed. If your state does not require licensing, interior designers can take a licensing exam with the National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). Overall, licensing requirements vary from state to state, but most licenses require certain education levels and experience to qualify. To check the qualifications of your interior designer, use Angi’s state licensing tool.

One of the easiest ways to save money when hiring a holiday decorator is to provide storage for your decorations. If you have the space, you can save hundreds or even thousands of dollars by avoiding storage costs through your professional. It’s also a good idea to provide as much direction as possible for your professional, as this can cut down on design services. Finally, you can pay for your decorator to take down your decorations at the end of the season, but packaging and storing them yourself will save money on labor.

Start at the top of the column and secure one end of the garland to the column with a hook, nail, staple, or other fastener. Tightly wind the garland around the column until you reach the bottom. Secure the garland to the base of the column with another fastener before trimming away any excess.
