"Previous contractor did very bad job on my bathroom and Farzad fixed everything with a reasonable price. Great communication and cooperative. I will hire him for my next project."

"During a home inspection (by someone else) of a house we were considering purchasing, our inspector pointed out some rotted door frames, and encouraged us to get an estimate for the purpose of negotiating with the seller. I contacted ICC Construction and was pleased that he agreed to come out for a free estimate. He arrived on time, took some measurements, and came up with a decent estimate. I was satisfied with that interaction, and intended to use ICC Construction to perform the work after we purchased the home.
In the meantime, at the house we owned at the time, our shower faucet handle was increasingly difficult to move, and with the help of some YouTube videos, I diagnosed the problem as a stuck cartridge. I took some things apart, but wasn't able to get the cartridge out myself, so I decided to hire someone to replace the cartridge. I decided to reach out to ICC Construction, thinking this was a good opportunity to test out a contractor before diving into bigger projects at our new house.
He agreed to come out a couple days later, in the evening (though I was available during the day). I very much expected that the work would be done at the scheduled time, but unfortunately, he just took a look at the shower briefly and said he could get the part and come back in a few days. Apparently, his expectation was that he was coming out to assess things, though my expectation was that the shower would be fixed that night. He didn't provide an estimate or anything, either.
After he left, I found another contractor that could come the next day, and was clear that they were coming to do the work and not just look at things, and so I called ICC Construction and let him know that we wouldn't need him to come back.
Nice enough guy; just make sure to clarify what your expectations should be.

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Modern brick houses are really stick-built homes with a brick facade for aesthetic purposes only, so most have framing. With genuine brick construction, most homeowners install furring strips over the interior of the brick and then install drywall over those strips to cover the brick wall, so they don’t have traditional framing.

In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.

Yes, you will need a jack for a rim joist replacement. To prevent sagging and facilitate the removal of load-bearing wood, you’ll need to relieve the pressure from this joint before beginning work.

Due to hydraulics and other specialized equipment, a sill plate and rim joist replacement are not typically a DIY project. Hiring a professional structural engineer and experienced contractors is the best approach to replacing rotted sill plates and rim joists.

House framing can be expensive because the materials are pricey, and the job requires a high level of expertise. The more complex the plans, the more expensive the job, but even the most basic frame needs to be installed with high-quality materials and precision. When pricing your home’s framework, remember that a sturdy frame is necessary to create a safe structure.

For a professional carpenter, installing a window seat can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days, depending on some aspects of the project. Aside from building the seat itself, if they have to remove any cabinets, shelves, or baseboards, that will add time to the project.
