"Randy MacKay (the owner) and Gary arrived right on time to update my upstairs powder room.  First thing they did was lay down drop cloths from the front door to the bathroom to protect the carpet.  They worked together to complete all the above tasks in a very timely manner (about 6 hours).  Both Randy and Gary are very detail oriented, and make sure everything is done to perfection.  We had Randy do work for us on a major bathroom remodel when he worked for another company before he started this company, and were extremely pleased with his work.  When they finished, the clean up was fantastic.  I would call Randy for any remodel or repair job I needed done, and know the job would be done well and the price would be fair.

"Great! Mike & Domingo (he is the fabricator) came on time for a measure up and discuss the details. Domingo arrived the following week with our tops, the installation went perfectly (same as it did for our whole kitchen one month ago). Domingo is a perfectionist, tops look great. I definitely recommend CTM."

"The folks at Shower Solutions showed up when they said they would, and tore out the old shower and counter top in one day. The new counter top and shower stall where installed the next day.  I love the results! Our bathroom looks great.  The owner of this business, Crystal, was in contact with us almost daily to check on the progress of the job and to see if we had any questions.  All people involved were very professional. Overall, we are very satisfied with the work of Shower Solutions.

"Their pricing is fantastic, their service is fantastic. They are just overall good. This is the 2nd time I've used them and they are just fantastic. Their pricing is insanely good. The quality of workmanship and the speed in which they do it is fantastic. I always go back to them because they are so fast. Everyone else said the cabinets would take 6-8 weeks and they could have them for me in a week. I think they have a great selection and if they don't have what you are looking for they can go get it."

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

Butcher block countertops are generally more affordable than quartz countertops. The average quartz countertop costs around $4,500, while the average butcher block countertop costs around $3,750. However, high-end butcher blocks with custom features can negate the savings, since certain woods come with a higher per square foot cost.

You can cut countertops without chipping by using your saw correctly and having a new fine-toothed blade. You can also put masking tape on the front of the countertop material across the cut line and cut from front to back. However, it is very hard to cut countertops without chipping them, especially if they are made of stone or more fragile materials like laminate. The best advice is to know how to use the equipment, use the correct cutting method for the material, cut from back to front, move slowly, and practice on scrap material first.

You should use glue and screws when installing butcher block countertops. Opt for a construction adhesive or wood glue applied along the top edge of your base cabinets. For added strength, install support brackets on the base cabinets, then secure your countertop with screws. Make sure you only tighten the screws to the point where the butcher block is snug against the cabinet and don’t overtighten.

The resin should be periodically sealed to help prevent it from wearing down or becoming porous. Very sharp or very hot objects can damage the resin surface, and there’s no way to fully repair it if that happens, so we recommend treating the counters well.

Epoxy is typically more affordable than granite, especially if you’re choosing a high-end slab. Most granite countertops cost $75 to $145 per square foot to install, with high-end varieties topping $185 per square foot.

In contrast, epoxy countertops cost $50 to $150 per square foot to install. The material costs for epoxy are significantly lower than granite, but installation costs can be higher. Rather than simply cutting granite countertops to size before installation, your contractor will need to carefully pour the epoxy over an existing surface.
