"Bridges Construction did an amazing job remodeling our bathroom. The finished product looks great, and we’re really happy with how everything turned out. They were easy to work with throughout the entire process, communicated well, and made everything smooth and stress-free. We truly appreciate their quality work and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a bathroom remodel."

"Rodrigo first demolished and reconstructed a deck with stairs and a storage area below in the front of our house. Excellent work. On time. Talked with us regularly about progress and if we wanted any design changes. We had him back to put built-in shelves for a pantry/laundry closet. Again excellent timeliness, communication, and finish job."

"We had a perfect dream kitchen when we left the Bay Area and while our 10 year old home we bought here in Spanish Springs was nice, it needed to be updated. Cindy and team helped us achieve a dream kitchen remodel. Not only were we able to get beautiful new cabinets, her team helped with design and find installers for a new backsplash, counter extension, and gorgeous stacked stone for our island counter. I would highly recommend her services."

"I hired Rob and his son with a very short timeframe to work with. They did a marvellous job on this over 1900 square foot home. Trim, Closets, everything was done to perfection. Rob is personable and great to work with. I would hire him again for any painting work. His prices were very competitive and his work ethic is sterling. Thanks, Rob and Robbie."

Small jobs welcome

"I hate being condescended to. Listen to what I want and then give suggestions on how I might be able to work that out in my kitchen. Don't just tell me it can't be done. I felt like I was wasting my time. I asked about a particular type of closet (not realizing it was part of a bigger cabinet...how would I know) and she told me to follow her (using her finger to me like a child) and said I couldn't have it because it was as part of a bigger piece. She could have just said that. I said if I can't make my kitchen more "usable" (less wasted space), WHY to with custom cabinets. I could just reface. The woman behind me who was waiting to ask her a question said. Listen, if you can't get what you want, I don't blame you for not spending the money. It's easy to reface. So, I called another company and, low and behold, I'm getting partial refacing and partial custom cabinets. He came and we discussed HOW I could get my carousel cabinet (uh - he suggested I go from a double to a single sink - easy peasy) AND, he came in at half the price your website suggested I might pay. It is really nice to be listened to...especially when it's MY money I'm spending."

Closets questions, answered by experts

Custom furniture can provide more efficient storage and maximize resources.

We use storage in nearly every room of the house, so it's no surprise that we lose track of things from time to time. The best way to organize storage is to declutter each year to cut down on auxiliary items that can be donated or tossed. Once you decide what's worth keeping, create an inventory list for all boxes you won't open for at least six months.

Plywood, MDF (medium-density fiberboard), and solid wood are all popular options for closet shelving. Plywood and solid wood are sturdy and ideal for extended shelves or heavy items. MDF is a budget-friendly choice for light to moderate storage, but it can sag under heavy weight if not adequately supported. Wire shelving is another alternative that allows airflow, making it especially useful in humid spaces such as laundry rooms or basements.

You can design your own closet, but it’s usually better to hire a professional to do the work for you. Not only will you get years of design experience to guide you toward the right layout and material choices, but you’ll also only pay slightly more hiring a professional than you would creating your own plans and hiring a carpenter. A high-quality closet designer can provide insight into how to lay out your closet, and they may be able to find you a good deal on the carpentry or complete the work using an affordable, in-house team.

The differences between a built-in closet and a walk-in aren’t that different from a built-in wardrobe and a walk-in closet. It’s fairly simple—a walk-in closet is a closet you can physically enter, stand in, and walk around in. A built-in (whether wardrobe or closet) is more akin to covered shelves installed into a recess in the wall. Another big difference is walk-in closets almost always have traditional full-size doors, while built-ins either have no doors or use sliding doors.
