"Mr. Caldera's and his son were a God sent. I had reached out to other contractors at no avail. Not even a returned phone call. Within an hour of calling Mr. Caldera's he returned my phone call and again at 8:30 pm he was contacting me for pictures and measurements. What contractor does that? Only one sent by God! He squeezed me into his tight schedule and was here in Santa Fe three days later. That's an exceptional contractor! Mr. Caldera's and his son were prompt. They were respectful, professional, and hardworking. They covered my floors and counter tops. Juan installed one side of my kitchen back splash while Freddie did the other side. I used Roman style crystal glass mosaic tile. Their craftsmanship was impeccable. 40 sq ft. of tile and it looks as if one person did the entire job. Every cut of tile and trim is aligned perfectly and the same throughout the kitchen. The spacing between the tile is grouted evenly as well. They cleaned up the inside and outside as if they had never been there. Words cannot express my gratitude and how thrilled I am with my stunning, gorgeous new back splash. I highly recommend Caldera's Tile for your job and I would definitely hire them again."

"We had a prior meeting to review what was involved in preparation (moving furniture and other objects) for the cleaning of the tile and grout. On the 17 April 17 Eric showed up and started the grout cleaning and completed the job in about 4 hours. The grout had not been cleaned for 10 years and was nearly black. He did a great job, the grout lines were a light gray again and tile look like new. He sealed the grout lines and left the space clean. Eric was very careful working around the furniture we were not able to move. It was a real joy to hire someone who is so professional and pleasant. The whole experience was excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend Avalanche Cleaning to anyone."

"The project went really smoothly from start to finish. The project was done on time with zero issues along the way. He was on time every morning, used floor protection throughout the work area and cleaned up every day after he was done. Corral Flooring did an amazing job on the project. The file was installed with all the tiles centered, aligned, and properly installed. The installation was above and beyond our expectations. All the tile was cut cleanly and had perfect grout lines."

"S.A.M.’s Floor Covering repaired ceramic tile in our laundry room. Josh Mena from S.A.M.’s did a great job - he was on time, polite, efficient, and the finished work was excellent. We were amazed how perfect the grout match was to the original 25-year old tile. I highly recommend this company for small and large projects."

"Jerry was amazing! After reviewing the situation, he suggested a thorough deep cleaning followed by a grout stain and re-caulk. He took it upon himself to take a sample of the grout that was not discolored and visited 3 or 4 supply houses to locate it in stock so he could get the job done ASAP. Upon the completion the whole area looks like new. He was extremely punctual and professional and his charge was at least half of what I had conjured up in my head. Jerry is truly a master of his trade and I appreciated his analysis, respect for my situation and very practical solution. On top of everything else.....he is a super nice gentleman!"

Small jobs welcome

"Don't use them because they're local, use them because they're the BEST! I have 3 kids and 2 dogs, so as you can imagine my house looked like a bomb just went off. Luckily, the guys at Xtreme clean showed up with a smile and went to work... my wife came home a few hours later and was blown away at how clean everything looked again. We had our home back! Carpets, grout, upholstery, these guys do it all and they are above and beyond anyone else I've used around town. I'm looking forward to having them back in another few months. Worth 10x what I paid. Great business!"

Grout Tile Cleaners questions, answered by experts

To clean stone tiles, first sweep or vacuum to remove dirt particles. Use a mild, pH-neutral detergent and warm water to mop. Be careful not to use acidic cleaning solutions, such as vinegar and lemon juice, which can damage the surface.

Many services offer grout sealing as an add-on. Confirm with your provider before scheduling.

If you prefer not to use a commercial cleaning product on your pink mold issue, or on other types of mold you are seeing in your bathroom, there are some natural mold killer products that you can use. You can try substances that you may already have in your home, like vinegar, tea tree oil, hydrogen peroxide, lemon juice, and baking soda.

In almost all cases, yes. Most grout is cement-based, meaning it’s highly porous and susceptible to mold, mildew, and grimy deposits. Grout sealer is a crucial step if you’re looking to preserve the look and structural integrity of these types of grout. However, some types of grout—such as epoxy-based grouts—are not porous and do not need to be sealed.

Caulk and grout are two different materials with different purposes and should not be used interchangeably. Grout is used to fill the gaps between tiles; it hardens to keep them sturdy and in place on walls or floors. Caulk, on the other hand, is a flexible, waterproof material used to seal corners, cracks, and edges, such as where a tub meets tile or around windows for weatherproofing. Caulk can also be used to temporarily repair damaged grout.
