"We love our cabinets! They look fantastic while remaining affordable. The friendly staff at AWD helped us from start to finish. They are very knowledgeable and gave us advice and tips when needed. They were receptive and patient with our ever-changing needs. Once we finalized our purchase, we received our cabinets within two weeks! The cabinets are very sturdy and the color is beautiful. The hinges and hardware are high quality. We are extremely pleased with AWD and would recommend them to any friends or family looking for good cabinets at a fair price."

"From preplanning to execution, my experience with Professional Contracting has been a pleasure. In preplanning, Art and Felipe took the initiative to offer suggestions on how to bring down costs but maintain quality. They followed up quickly in correspondence via text messaging and agreed to coordinate with us in areas where we could do some of the work ourselves. We did the demo, painting, trim and door staining, and backsplash installation. Our previous architect/contractor, who was from another firm and proved to be incompetent, had incorrect measurements on the plan that required constant changes. Art, Felipe and every one of their crews worked with us as we compensated for the architect’s errors. Various crews were onsite almost every day, and some worked weekends. Robert was my on-site go-to man whenever I had a concern or a perplexing challenge. I could count on him to come up with a solution, and he designed a beautiful fireplace modeled after a picture I had found in a magazine. The project did take longer than anticipated because of subcontractor delays in the late stages of construction, so there were days in that period when no crews were on site. Subcontractor delays are not an uncommon experience in the industry, but it was worth the wait. Our project, the remodeling of a 950 sq. ft. studio/RV garage into a studio involved converting the large garage and pre-existing studio space into four rooms and a bathroom; relocating the bathroom from the front to the rear of the structure; relocating the swamp cooler from the southeast to the northwest wall; moving the furnace location from the first floor to the loft; installing 11 new windows, 3 new exterior doors as well as a new furnace, all new electrical throughout, new plumbing throughout, HVAC, new tank-less water heater, new swamp cooler, cabinetry, countertops and flooring; and applying new stucco over the entire structure. Many years ago I had designed and built a house, and I have learned that with any construction project, one can expect delays, mistakes and change orders. The important consideration is whether the contractor works with the homeowner in a timely fashion to deal with any of these occurrences. Professional Contracting did. If I requested a change or noticed something was not quite right, the response from any crewmember was always “no problem,” and the correction was made. To avoid some of these possibilities, I would suggest sending Art and Felipe lists of what is important for some of the subcontractors to know, for example a vessel sink in the bathroom or accessories inside cabinets or appliances to be used on a circuit. My son and his wife were also impressed with Professional Contracting and hired their cabinetmaker to design and build a large entertainment center encompassing one wall in their living room. They, too, are very pleased with the final product. I have no hesitation saying that Professional Contracting is a five-star company."

Pre Made Cabinets questions, answered by experts

Frameless cabinets fit the space-saving, minimalist attributes of European-style kitchens more than face frame models. That also makes them a good pick for apartments and dorms, as well as any more modern-style kitchen.

There’s no strict rule about which way cabinet doors should open, but generally, double cabinet doors should open away from each other. With single doors, you want to avoid having them block your path or swing into  areas where people need to stand. Some kitchens are angled so that cabinet doors may crash into something no matter which way they swing, but the methods above can help prevent damage.

Custom cabinets made from solid wood are the most durable, lasting 20 to 50 years with proper maintenance. In comparison, prefabricated cabinets have a lifespan nearly half as long. The longevity of any cabinet depends on factors like upkeep, the amount of heat and moisture in the home, and general wear and tear. Popular hardwood options for long-lasting cabinets include oak, cherry, maple, walnut, and hickory. While these materials are a worthwhile investment for those planning to stay in their home for decades, their durability comes at a higher price compared to alternatives like furniture board, laminate, and plywood. The average cost for solid wood cabinets ranges from $100 to $1,200 per linear foot.

Yes, you can replace the cabinet hardware after installation to change up the look of your cabinets. Replacing the hinges, handles, pulls, and knobs allows you the design flexibility to match your other appliances or finish schemes to your liking. Talk with your kitchen designer or cabinet installer about the best hardware option for your cabinets.

While most kitchen island installations do not require a permit, some situations do. Any major kitchen renovation will require one, and depending on your municipality, you might also need one if you install new plumbing or electrical work.

Your kitchen island installation pro will be able to determine if you need a permit for your job, which can run you between $460 and $2,900, depending on the permits required.
