"Robert showed up the day I called, quickly diagnosed the problem with my leaky irrigation system and fixed the leaks and the underlying issues. I only wish I had called him earlier. Very knowledgeable, efficient and patient and I highly recommend him and his business."

"The yard looks better, it's true, but between the time I accepted the April estimate and today, mid-July, the earliest date they had available, I did a good bit of the work myself, completely removing one of the bushes and whittling the others to less than half their previous size, yet I was held to the full estimate. They also removed a very healthy Russian sage in the corner of the yard instead of the dead rosemary bush stump I'd asked for--so now I have a very bare corner I'll need to replant. Fortunately I did catch them in time to get the stump taken out. I do feel the estimate was fair for the work I wanted done, but I should've had them come out and adjust the estimate prior to the work date--so I'll accept a bit of the responsibility. The workers were nice and seemed to enjoy working together. I'd hoped to establish a connection with a reliable company so that I could have yard work done on a regular schedule, but my feeling is it's not this company. I said I wouldn't rehire them, but that's because there's no maybe option."

"They arrived 5 hours late (my appointment was at 10: they arrived at 3. This was a week day, so I had to take off from work and had made plans for that afternoon that I had to cancel), but once they finally arrived, they completed the work quickly and thoroughly. My "four" hours equaled two hours of work by two people, with a supervisor standing by. They finished the yard in an hour and then offered to neaten up the front yard and walkway, which they did. I was pleased with their work, but unhappy about their tardiness. The supervisor (owner?) did call shortly before the originally scheduled time to say they'd be a couple of hours late, which turned into the five hours. In considering possible future assignments, I asked what they normally charged for yardwork services and couldn't afford the cost, so that is the main reason I won't be hiring them again."

Lawn Care questions, answered by experts

Tipping is not mandatory, but is a nice gesture if you are satisfied with the service your lawn professional provided. The amount you should tip depends on your area, service, and time of year. Typically, most people tip between $10 and $100 per crew member. For minor services, people tend to tip less than large jobs.

Buffalo grass spreads through both underground roots and above-ground stolons. The widespread root and stolon system makes up for this grass’s overall lack of density. It’s a hearty grass, so it spreads on its own slowly, especially considering that most of the male (no staminate) varieties of grass are sterile. You may think about over-maintaining your lawn to encourage growth, but this would have the opposite effect.

Cut your lawn a bit shorter before the winter, typically between 2 and 2½ inches, depending on the variety of grass. On average, the best height to cut grass typically falls between 2 and 3 inches throughout the year. Aim for the shorter side of this range when you mow for the last time of the year to avoid common winter lawn diseases and moisture issues.

Costs depend on property size, service frequency, and additional tasks like aeration or overseeding.

They compete for nutrients and water, potentially stunting desired plants.
