"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. Turns out they don't accept cancellations. 2) I couldn't find a phone number, so I had to work the return/refund by email. The exchange was painful -- so unhelpful I felt like I was interacting with a bad chatbot. 3) I ended up eating shipping costs (expected) and got hit for a 50% restocking fee (unexpected) because I refused the package instead of paying to ship it back. Didn't matter that it went to the correct address, was clearly labeled, and had prior return authorization. "Repair Clinic sent me a water intake valve that had some scuff marks and an unnecessary fixture (which I thought nothing of, assuming it had been removed from a new dishwasher). When the part did not fix my dishwasher's issue, I ordered a circulation pump, which also failed to fix the issue, so I decided to return both parts. Repair Clinic blamed me for the scuff marks and extra fixture, which is unacceptable. They referenced their return policy which states that parts which have been installed cannot be returned, and denied me any form of refund. For all I know, the water intake valve was defective, and I have no recourse. Don't put any stock in the "No-Hassle 365-Day Returns" they proudly tout on their homepage. Instead, expect finger-pointing and uncaring dismissal. You are better off with one of their many competitors."

The average dishwasher lasts between 10 and 12 years, however, some dishwashers can last 15 years or more. Just how long your dishwasher lasts depends on how well you maintain it, the quality of the parts, how frequently you use it, your water hardness level, and whether or not you follow dishwasher best practices when loading your appliance.

To create a siphon break and remove any chance of dirty sink water or water that backs up into the sink from getting into your dishwasher, your dishwasher drain hose needs to have a high loop or an air gap device as part of its installation. All building codes require at least a high loop. In many places, it’s necessary to install an air gap device to meet the code.

The correct water temperature for your dishwasher depends on the washing phase. When water enters the machine, it should be around 120 degrees Fahrenheit, but no hotter than 150 degrees. During the wash cycle, the machine will heat the water to between 130 and 140 degrees. If your dishwasher has a sanitizing cycle, the water can reach a temperature of up to 180 degrees.

Delicate surfaces like softwood, painted areas, or antique furniture can be damaged by a power or pressure washer. Avoid power washing things with electrical components, including outlets or HVAC units, because water can short-circuit these systems. Fragile materials like glass or light fixtures shatter under high pressure. Additionally, plants and landscaping should be kept safe from the forceful spray to prevent harm. Always assess the surrounding area before power washing to avoid costly damage.

You can repair minor damage to a dishwasher drain hose with tape designed to handle moisture but it’s probably better to simply replace it. Dishwasher hoses are inexpensive items that, although they require some muscle to change, are best swapped out. You don’t want to find your kitchen has flooded because of a faulty part that usually costs between $10 and $30.
