The shower leaked from the 1st floor to the 2nd and caused water damage to a brand new kitchen. Eddie tried to fix it 4 times but did not know what to do. Yes, eco-friendly blown-in insulation options include materials made from recycled cellulose or wool. These offer excellent thermal performance and sustainability, reducing energy consumption and environmental impact while enhancing home efficiency.

A DIY blown-in insulation project in a typical attic should take you no more than a week to complete. Experienced homeowners can blow an entire attic in one or two days.

Adding insulation to ceilings is an excellent way to increase the energy efficiency of your home. If your home's layout is such that you need insulation in the ceilings rather than in the roof, it's likely that at least some insulation already exists in the space. However, each additional inch of insulation you can add boosts the R-value by between 2.2 and 4.2.

If you're replacing insulation, it's a good idea to remove the old insulation before adding new. This is especially true if the existing insulation has suffered from water damage or been exposed to pests. You also need to remove old insulation if you'll be installing a new and different type of insulation, such as trading roll or batt insulation for spray foam.

It’s technically possible to install loose-fill cellulose insulation without a blower, but it’s much more time-consuming, tedious, and dangerous. You’ll need to wear the proper protective coverings to handle the cellulose after it’s been doused in boric acid; use a shovel when you can to transport the material from the bag into the wall cavity.

That said, if you purchase cellulose materials at a home improvement store, ask if they rent out blowers for free or at a discounted rate. In many cases, if you buy the material from the store, they’ll rent out the blower at no extra cost.
