"Called to see if he could arrive early, said yes and he showed up ten minutes later. Vacuumed entire house and set up his equipment, then cleaned the entire house . Whole process took about 2 hours. He was very particular, and cleaned inside the closets. He even cleaned 2 area rugs last minute with no extra charge. Will recommend and use his services in the future."

"Exceeded my expectations. They came and picked up the rugs from 3 rooms and runners, moving heavy furniture as needed and then returned them perfectly clean a week later and put them back into place. The price was extremely reasonable, they were on time, polite and very accomodating. I have used Avalanche for many years and find their cleaning services superior to others that I have tried and they are always reliable."

Oriental Rug Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The best way to deep clean a carpet yourself is to buy or rent a carpet steam cleaner. First, spot-clean the carpet to pre-treat any stains, then vacuum to remove any lingering dirt or debris. Next, use the carpet cleaner across the room, repeating as needed for heavily soiled areas. Let the carpet dry thoroughly before walking on it—this could take a full day, depending on your home’s humidity level and air circulation.

Depending on the thickness of the carpet, it can take anywhere from 4 to 12 hours for carpet to dry with a fan. The humidity and temperature of the room also play a role in drying time, as added moisture in the air can result in longer drying time.

It can be worth professionally cleaning a rug for several reasons, including the cost of replacing it. If the rug is high-quality and expensive, cleaning it is an excellent way to get the most life from it and restore it to its original shine. If the rug is difficult to replace because it’s rare or an heirloom, then cleaning is a smart option for keeping it in the best condition possible for as long as possible. Additionally, cleaning the rug can help reduce the amount of dust and bacteria in the house, improving air quality and overall health.

It’s possible to clean an oriental rug yourself, but it’s not recommended for two reasons. First, most DIYers only have access to rug shampoos and equipment like steam cleaners, which won’t provide the same deep clean that an industrial machine that shakes dust and dirt out of the fibers would. Second, using any harsh chemicals or shampoos that aren’t specifically made for oriental rugs could damage the material. It’s often a better idea to get an oriental rug professionally cleaned, as this reduces the risk of damage and provides a better clean.

Professional carpet cleaners may use steamers or a dry cleaning method for your Berber carpet. A cleaning company will use a commercial-grade steamer, which is more powerful and takes a fraction of the time to use as the steamer you may have at home. The steam draws out all the dirt and stains to help your carpet look new again.

Alternatively, the cleaners may use a dry cleaning method. This is when chemicals are applied to the carpet to help draw out the dirt and stains. Afterward, they use a high-powered vacuum to suck up all the debris.
