Small jobs welcome

Customers say: Super punctual

"Greivin and his assistant were on time, did a great job, and cleaned up nicely afterwards. They even did switched out a light fixture - something I didn't expect. I've already given his contact info to a friend. I would hire him again...and probably will."

"We hired Peter Dorizas from Dorhos Management, LLC and he was an excellent painter and very reasonably priced. He also did other things that needed fixing and cleaned everything up. I would definitely recommend him."

"To whom it may concern, I am Marcos Martinez I live in the area of Bergen County to be exactly in 314 Henry st Fairview NJ 07022. Three weeks ago I wanted a renovation in my apartment and one of my friends recomended me Mario Cana from C&J PAINTING AND CONSTRUCTION LLC, and I contacted Mario Cana from C&J PAINTING AND CONSTRUCTION LLC to look at the job that I needed and get an estimate from him, later on we got a deal with his company and I asked him to get me the job before a certain day and I was suprice that they accomplished what I asked for. His crew has done a wonderful job. The crew of Mario are always on time, professional and work hard to get the job done in a timely manner. I highly recommend Mario Cana and his company C&J PAINTING AND CONSTRCUTION LLC for any general construction needs."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Building codes for deck railings can vary by location, so it's important to consult your local regulations before construction. Generally, a guardrail is required for any deck that is more than 30 inches above the ground.

For residential properties, the standard minimum height for a deck railing is 36 inches. However, some states and municipalities have stricter requirements; for example, California and Washington mandate railings that are at least 42 inches high. Therefore, a 42-inch railing is not considered too high and may be required in your area or chosen voluntarily for additional safety.

In addition to height requirements, codes also specify other safety features, such as the maximum spacing between balusters to ensure they are close enough to prevent a child from squeezing through.

That depends on the condition of your deck. An older deck that looks drab, worn, or has multiple damaged boards might be worth replacing before selling. However, if your deck is in good condition, you can simply clean, repaint, or stain it.

Always sand a deck before repainting so the wood is smooth and ready for paint. While you do not need to fully remove paint before repainting, sanding helps remove any areas with weather and sun damage. Sanding also helps remove chipped or flaking paint and opens the wood pores to improve paint adhesion.

A wood deck requires annual cleaning and regular inspections for loose or broken boards, nails, and screws. It should be refinished by applying a stain or sealer every two to three years to protect the wood from water damage, rot, mildew, and sun fading. The exact frequency can depend on the climate and the deck's exposure to sun and moisture. If your deck is painted, it will need repainting approximately every 10 years. Signs that your deck needs refinishing include faded, splintering, or warping boards.

Composite decking might cost more upfront, but it delivers value in terms of durability. Unlike wood, composite material resists common deck problems such as rotting, fading, warping, and all the other things you don’t want a deck to do. The extra processes lead to a higher price tag, but you’ll save big in maintenance costs down the road.
