"We have used Closets By Design three times and would highly recommend them. Our first project was for a complete renovation of a large master walk-in closet. It was a challenging space, but design and workmanship was top-notch. We were extremely pleased. This was close to 15 years ago, and the materials have held up beautifully. The second project was a few years later - a redo of a small closet, and we were happy with this, as well. Our most recent project was a custom organization system for the mudroom. It was perfectly designed and we are thrilled with the results. Should any other projects arise, we would not hesitate to use them again."

"All about Closets.  Absolutely Fabulous Product and Job.  I am so happy with my custom closet.  George has such an eye for lay out based on the amounts of clothes and accessories you have and how everything can be organized.  The process of ordering was painless. Every thing came in when it was scheduled and his team made sure the job was done right.  The price was also fantastic.  It beat the competition hands down.  George's measurements were impeccable and he was also very easy to work. I would absolutely recommend George the owner to any and all friends or family.  I could not be happier!

Closets questions, answered by experts

Tiny house living requires creative solutions to the one biggest issue: space. Many people in tiny houses find life most manageable if they practice minimalism. Eliminating excess items and clutter makes the living space feel bigger, which can be a significant mood booster. It can also be challenging to get utilities arranged for a tiny house, and building and zoning codes can and often do present unique challenges to overcome.

Hanging and folding clothes are efficient ways to pack your clothes during a move. When choosing a packing method, consider the type of clothing you’re packing. For example, clothing such as dresses, suits, blouses, and items made of silk and similar fabrics are ideal for hangers. On the other hand, it’s easier to fold pants, shorts, t-shirts, thick sweaters, and more.

Since they are so fragile, it is not usually recommended to stack anything on top of your packed lamps. If you have sturdy boxes, and what you plan to put on top of them is of a similar weight, it’s okay to stack.

If you have a bathroom closet with movable shelves, you can place them at virtually any spacing that works for you. Useful measurements between shelves in the working, or middle, section can be 10 to 16 inches for towels or linens. Lower or higher shelving could be up to 24 inches between shelves to store lesser-used or bulky items or boxes.

Fortunately, there are no hard and fast rules or regulations regarding the height of closet shelving. However, the typical height for a single closet shelf with a hanging bar is 70 inches from the floor. For a double-hanging system, use 84 to 85 inches from the floor for the top one and 42 inches for the lower.
