"This was a great experience for me.  I'm always nervous about hiring folks, paying too much, being disappointed with the end result, etc, ...but my mind was set to ease when working with Vinny and his team.  
I first signed up for the chimney cap and cleaning $65.  Was very pleased w/ the work done and appreciated the pictures taken when working at the top of the chimney so I could be shown.  Following, I asked him to quote chimney caps for the other chimney and 5 ash pit clean out doors with installation.  
He came back with options (3 caps on that other chimney or one custom size chimney cap) along w/ his recommendation.  He did the same on the ash pit clean out doors.  I always like when someone takes the time to extend choices and explain why they would do it a certain way if it were their house.  
The pricing was fair and I felt like I could trust him to do the job.  He communicated with me regularly over e-mail, text and calls while we were sorting products (custom chimney cap and the clean out doors) and scheduled the installation when they were ready and it was convenient for me. 
Their work and service they did was excellent.  I'm very pleased and highly recommend.

"I had to call the office several times to actually make the appointment for the men to come. The gentleman I spoke to was polite and explained that because of the special offer response which was great it would take  some time to get out to do the work. I understood that.
However, when the service men came to do the chimney the tools they brought were inadequate. The brush was small and the vacuum they used looked like a residential model shop vac. Although they were very pleasant and on time I know from comparing what they did to past chimney cleaning experiences that it was a very poor and incomplete job. I am planning to have the chimney recleaned this fall because we live in a very old frame house and I cannot risk a chimney fire. I'm certain that the amount of creosote and soot I can see when I look up the chimney is still too much.
I wonder if this job was less than the usual full priced job they do because it was an Angie's List "special". I will not take part in any more of those deals. In the long run they are no deal at all. If the company was hoping to get business as a result of the exposure of this promotion I can only say that I will not call them again.

I had paid a great price for the package, but when the guys came to the house and saw the small opening they would have to climb through to get to my less-than-inviting crawl space, they seemed reluctant to fulfill the deal. They left and I thought I would have to call for a refund. Instead, a truly lovely woman who answered my call at Home Service listened to me with no defensiveness, and seemed genuinely concerned about my experience. She had the owner -- Nick -- come to my house and do the service himself. Nick was polite, friendly, and professional. He didn't balk at the crawl space -- he climbed right in and within 30 minutes the job was done! He gave me his honest opinion about other issues with my chimney but did not try to push any additional services on me. I was really impressed, and if I have other projects that fall within the scope of what Home Service does I will definitely call them. You can tell that Nick cares about his reputation, and that makes all the difference."
