It turned out that the "French drains" were a trench at the edges of the basement and a sump pump. The drains were not piped to the sump pump. Came out the next day to attempt to snake two clogged tubs on second floor of a side-by-side two family home, connected to one sewer line.. Clog was more severe than expected.
