"I had an electrical issue in my kitchen and the power to main floor went out. I ended up having a back switch that needed to be replaced. I was quickly contacted to understand the issue, and DLP Electric was willing to come out today, however I had already just hired a technician from another company to handle (right before I spoke to DLP). Having said that, DLP Electric was professional and very helpful, and I would hire them if I ever needed electric work performed in my house. Great customer service and very responsive."

"Overall, Dave's service was excellent. Dave was punctual, professional and provided a fair price. He was available via chat to agree on appointments and helped me with the town permit. He upgraded my kitchen lighting by adding more circuits, running two electrical lines for the cooktop, wall oven, and updated the electrical panel. He cleaned the area after work was done. He is friendly and courteous. I highly recommend Dave."

"Schweiger did a bunch of electrical work for a kitchen remodel in my home. Frank and his crew were amazing. They showed up on time and were very neat and courteous. Pricing was fair and I was very pleased with their service. My lights seem to shine brighter and my electric bill is now lower. Highly recommend Frank and his crew!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

If your Paterson home is over 40 years old or still has original wiring like knob-and-tube or aluminum, it’s wise to consider electrical upgrades. Signs such as frequent breaker trips, dimming or flickering lights, or outlets that feel warm indicate it’s time for professional electrical work. Addressing these issues before winter helps prevent system overloads and ensures your home remains safe and reliable.

Helpful?

Paterson homes with brick or stone walls, narrow row house layouts, or shared walls often require specialized planning for electrical projects. Multi-family conversions and finished basements with low ceilings can add complexity to wiring routes. If your property is in a historic district, you may need specific materials or extra permits. Consulting a local electrician familiar with Paterson’s housing styles can help streamline your project.

Helpful?

In Paterson, persistent flickering lights, buzzing outlets, or breakers that trip when appliances run point to electrical issues. Loose outlets might be caused by structural settling, which is common in older homes, and may require both electrical and minor carpentry repairs. High energy bills could result from outdated wiring or poor insulation, so a thorough inspection can help identify whether electrical work or another service is needed.

Helpful?

Homes in Paterson built before 1980, those with 100-amp panels or original wiring like cloth-wrapped or aluminum, are strong candidates for electrical upgrades. Properties with recent additions or multi-unit layouts often need updated systems to meet current demands. Most substantial projects require city permits, and multi-family homes may need additional inspections, so planning ahead ensures your electrical work meets local requirements.

Helpful?

Immediate attention is needed if you notice burning odors, sparking outlets, or frequent breaker resets, as these are safety hazards. If you’re planning to sell your Paterson home, addressing code violations or outdated panels should be prioritized. Upgrades for energy efficiency or additional circuits can typically be scheduled at your convenience, but staying proactive helps maintain safety and compliance with local standards.
