"We called Javier simply to swap out our 2 bathroom vanities with new ones. We ended up laying down new tiles on the floors and new tiles in one shower. They also repainted both bathrooms. We also hired him to redo our two staircases, which turned out better than expected. His worker Noel really put in the effort and made us happy. We plan on calling Javier back to do some more work in November. 30 years of experience shows!"

"David Hicks removed my old laminate countertops & installed new laminate tops with full backsplash. Also replaced matching bar-height top & desk top. He cleaned up well & communicated well. I would recommend him.!"

"Russ was very responsive to our inquiry to resurface our bathtub and tiled wall surround. We were able to get an appointment within a couple of weeks and the installer Ken arrived on time. We are very happy with the results. Affordable and looks very good."

"Bill is conscientious, knowledgeable and thorough. He and his crew gave meticulous attention to my countertop and the end result was beautiful. I believe he gave more attention to the countertop than the original installer. I am very pleased with the result. He fixed the chip around the sink, can't even tell there ever was an issue. He also removed a water stain that I was worried wouldn't be fixable, but again looks like new."

"Ryan was absolutely AMAZING!! He’s so polite, knowledgeable and respectful. I had a hand made tile for my backsplash and Ryan pointed out inconsistencies and I had to have the tile all remade. His attention to detail is what saved me and now it looks amazing. He’s clean and wiped up all my floors and honestly was a pleasure to have in my home. I can’t say enough good things about him but more importantly how trilled I am with the job he did, you will NOT be disappointed."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

When choosing tiles for a shower floor, avoid highly porous tile materials, like those with a water absorption rating over 7%. Don’t use non-vitreous tiles, or tiles fired at low temperatures, because they will absorb more water. If you use a highly porous tile in the shower, the tiles can wear down faster, meaning they’ll need to be replaced much sooner.

Solvents dissolve tile adhesive, but the right solvent for the job depends on what type of adhesive you are trying to remove. For instance, dispersion adhesive requires stronger removers, like bile soap or even paint stripper, but some adhesives, like cement-based products, can come off with water and soap or mortar remover.

Removing old tiles can be more complicated, but it can also be more manageable, depending on your circumstances. Typically, old tile is hard to remove because the adhesive had loads of time to bond with your wall, becoming a formidable foe between you and your new tile installation project. On the other hand, old tile in high-traffic areas can become loose, making it much easier to remove.

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

On the other hand, when you try to cut the tiles to fit around the toilet, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. It’s a lot more work, it’s hard to be precise, and mistakes or miscalculations can lead to future moisture damage to the tiling, grout, and subfloor.

You should always use caulk instead of grout where the tile meets the wall. This will help your tile installation look great and last a long time. When you accidentally use grout for the corner seams, you end up making the tiles too rigid. So as the wall shifts over time, your tiles have no wiggle room. This can lead to tile damage, which will eventually require you to do at least a partial reinstallation.
