At Eclipse Inspection and Property Services we offer a full range of inspection services to guide you through the process of buying a home, preparing your present home to sell, renovating your home, pools and spas, termite damage, radon testing and so much more! "I want to start by giving a huge thank you and a job well done. Chris and his team came and finished a front porch rebuild for me because the original contractor failed us. Chris had to remove some of the previous contractors' shotty work. He came up with a new plan and finished the job in a week! There were a few touch ups I requested that Chris immediately responded to. I found his business on FB, and he came out the same day I contacted him. I got a quote 2 days later and hired him. He completed the job the next week just as he said he would. I highly recommend! We are very happy with his work. HUGE thank you, Eclipse!"

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

Consider an annual inspection conducted by a local plumber to prevent dangerous and destructive leaks. If you recently moved into an older home or are concerned about the age of your gas lines, call an inspector for a closer look. You may also be required to call an inspector after your contractor installs a new line for an appliance.

You’ll know you have smoke damage if you notice a lingering smoky odor, see soot or residue, or spot any discoloration of surfaces in your home. If you have any kind of house fire, always assume you have smoke damage and hire a professional who deals with smoke damage to assess the extent of the damage and restore your home to its pre-fire condition.

Experts suggest your HVAC system should be inspected once per year. If you’re buying a new home, it’s also a good idea to have the house’s HVAC system professionally checked before the final sale. For HVAC systems older than 10 years, it’s recommended they are inspected twice per year. If you suspect a problem, you should schedule an inspection, even if you’ve already had one this year.

Several government-backed lending programs can help first-time home buyers purchase a home with little money down. FHA, USDA, and VA loans are options for qualifying borrowers, though many conventional mortgage lenders will lower down payment rates to as low as 3 percent.

There are many things to look for when buying a brick house. Here are some of the key things you should pay close attention to.

  • Lintels: Look for cracks, holes, displacement, or corrosion

  • Mortar: Check to see if the mortar is old and crumbling, in need of repointing, or new. Also check to see if the mortar has a professional finish.

  • Walls: Check along each side of the house. If a wall is bowing outward, this indicates a severe issue such as foundation damage or that the walls are ready to fall.

  • Cracks: If there are stair step cracks in the brickwork, this indicates an unstable foundation.
