"I had a photo of a brick pattern I saw in NC and shopped it around to several companies. Thiago was prompt in responding to my inquiry and providing an estimate. After a clarifications, we signed a contract and work began within a few months. The crew was super courteous and easy to work with. Any issues or concerns I had during the installation were immediately addressed without any hesitation or pushback. I am very pleased with the finished product."

"We hired them to build a retaining wall to level out our sloped backyard and install a new patio. They recommended natural bluestone bordered by classic bricks, and wow?what a difference! The stonework is flawless, perfectly level, and handles heavy rain with zero drainage issues. It looks like a high-end resort back here now. Worth every penny."

"Vinny was great to work with. He had some suggestions and was not pushing to up the price. He did exactly what was disused for the price we discussed. His crew did an excellent job redoing a paver walkway, installing a new retaining wall and a new paver patio that was straight, level and has the perfect pitch for water run off. I would definitely use him again and recommend him to anyone else."

"We have used D&S Landscaping for a number of years since moving to Metuchen. We couldn't be happier with the level of service and responsiveness from Don and his team. They have such great ideas and are always willing to work within your budget by offering different options. We recently had Don and his team install a paver patio in our backyard. Don provided a plan on how we should lay it out and showed us different paver combinations. We are thrilled with the finished product. I HIGHLY recommend D&S Landscaping for any Landscaping or Patio needs.......They even plow snow!"

"I recently had a new roof installed by Pro Build USA, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. From the initial inspection to the final cleanup, the team was professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. They walked me through the entire process, answered all my questions, and provided a fair estimate with no hidden fees. The crew arrived on time, worked diligently, and completed the job faster than expected without compromising quality. The new roof looks fantastic, and I can already tell it’s made a huge difference in my home’s appearance and energy efficiency. Highly recommend Pro Build USA to anyone needing roof installation or repair. It’s rare to find a company that takes pride in their work like this."

Retaining Wall Installers questions, answered by experts

Rebar is a steel support that goes inside concrete to prevent structural damage over time. Concrete is susceptible to impact, weight, and tension. By inserting rebar into the concrete during the installation, you can help extend its lifespan and avoid hazardous situations where the foundation of your home gives way to tensile forces.

Depending on who you hire to build a retaining wall, the average cost, including demolition and reconstruction, for a 50-foot wall that's 4 feet in height is between $7,000 and $24,000.

Railroad ties can be good for retaining walls, but it depends on the area. They have a desirable rustic look and are durable. The problem is they’re treated with creosote, a preservative the EPA says poses a risk to humans and wildlife. Over time, the preservative seeps out of the wood and into the ground. Many areas have banned the use of creosote-treated wood on residential properties. If your area does allow it, never use railroad ties near an edible garden or drinking water source. Instead, use wood that’s treated with an EPA-approved preservative or a wood-alternative composite material.

Most railroad tie retaining walls have a life span of 20 to 30 years, though you may need to replace your wall sooner if it’s repeatedly exposed to heavy rain, runoff, and excess moisture. Railroad ties are typically treated with creosote, which makes them much more durable than untreated wood. Though they last longer, they don’t last forever. For the most longevity, make sure your retaining wall has a sturdy base and steel reinforcements. You should also install drainage to direct water away from the wall.

Yes, you can use cinder blocks for many purposes, including retaining walls, foundations, garage walls, and fences. Building a cinder block retaining wall costs between $60 and $200 per linear foot, including materials and professional labor. For a 30-foot-long retaining wall, the cost ranges from $1,800 to $6,000.
