"Classical Pavers did a beautiful job replacing my front walkway! It was not a straightforward project because it was built on a steep slope with a curve. The owner Thiago, who oversees the project, was a pleasure to work with -- never used any pressure tactics, was very responsive to any questions, and gave a fair price. The two craftsmen who did the work were amazing! They arrived promptly every day, worked extremely hard, and did absolutely beautiful work. They hauled away all the old materials and tidied everything up when the job was done. We definitely would hire them again for a future project and highly recommend them."

"Eric, his uncle and team of construction workers did an excellent job with installing a 42x5ft Belgium Block driveway apron to protect a new asphalt edge of my driveway. They started fast and finished even faster. They are absolutely outstanding and I will be contracting with them again Lord Willing. I have other major projects needing Masonry and hardscaping professionals. Auspiciously, ALB Construction is where it’s at! Thank you guys so much! —G. A. Arathorn"

"For a driveway replacement and expansion project, I chose Provision Paving & Masonry. The owner responded to my inquiry and came to inspect the property in a timely manner. Rather than propose an over-complicated design, he instinctively described the perfect solution and at a fair price. Workflow was organized and efficient, while creative changes along the way provided much appreciated improvements. As to the crew, they were top-notch and hard working. In the end I was delighted with the final outcome."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Your chimney takes the hardest hit from harsh weather and acidic flue gases, making it the top candidate for masonry work. Front stoops and entry steps also deteriorate quickly due to heavy foot traffic and road salt. Additionally, the clay-heavy soils in Middlesex trap moisture against exterior foundation walls and retaining walls. Inspect these vulnerable areas annually to catch damage early and protect your property from serious structural decay.

Helpful?

Diagnosing central NJ homes requires looking closely at the symptoms. If you see white mineral deposits on your brick, you have a moisture issue that requires both masonry work and a waterproofing assessment. For chimney leaks, inspect the flashing and the mortar. Damaged flashing requires a roofer, while crumbling mortar requires a mason. Horizontal foundation cracks indicate severe structural failure. Hire a structural engineer immediately to ensure your home remains safe.

Helpful?

As a new homeowner in Middlesex, prioritize inspecting your older brick chimney for tuckpointing needs. Next, evaluate your concrete block foundation for moisture damage, since the heavy local rainfall easily penetrates aged mortar. Finally, check your front stoop and steps. Road salt and frequent freeze-thaw cycles cause significant wear over time. Address these masonry work projects early to keep your home structurally sound and safe from water intrusion.

Helpful?

Inspect your property every March or April after the harsh NJ winter. Schedule masonry work immediately if you notice water in your basement, flaking brick faces, or cracked chimney caps. You must also act if your mortar sits more than a quarter-inch deep behind the brick face. Book your contractor for late spring or early fall. Mortar requires temperatures consistently above forty degrees to cure properly and maintain its structural strength.

Helpful?

Repairing existing structures is highly cost-effective due to the high labor demands of the local market. For standard masonry work, tuckpointing a structurally sound chimney or injecting foundation cracks saves significant time and resources. However, you must replace the structure entirely if you find horizontal foundation cracks, severely flaking bricks, or a sinking front stoop. Always secure multiple professional assessments in Middlesex to verify the safest structural approach for your home.
