"Had a outdoor stairway leading to my backyard which was in disrepair with ugly and rotting landscape timbers. Unsightly and not built to the proper dimensions leading to unsafe height of the risers and other issues. Jerry came over the day before he began work and brainstormed at length with me about the various options available for the project. Chose one that I believed would serve my needs and also look attractive on my property. Jerry arrived right on time the next day, worked nonstop, and completed all the work himself. Also insured that all the rotted wood and other debris was cleaned up and removed from my property. When I returned from work that day he came back to my home to walk me through everything he had done and to be certain I was happy with the finished project. Actually loved the finished design and look of the new stairway and it was much more well made and attractive than I had originally pictured in my mind. More importantly the wife loved it as much as I did! Can't go wrong hiring Jerry and plan to utilize his expertise and services for all my home projects from now on."

"These guys are the real deal! They are kind, prompt, communicative, and diligent. They helped me patch and paint a hole in my ceiling--they came for a short time over the course of four days to make sure it was done right. I'm so happy with their work and would highly recommend them to friends and family. I will certainly be keeping their contact info for future needs. I would give more than 5 stars if I could!"

"The professionalism and quality was superb. From the very first consult to the last day the owners were available to answer any questions. They walked thru the process from step one. Wendy even assisted with design. Staff always cleaned up everyday and they even became friends with my two dogs. You hear about nightmare remodels but mine was wonderful and it was a large job. Can’t wait for them to do my next project."

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

Tiny houses, often called tiny homes, need between 100 to 400 square feet, with the most common size being between 200 and 300 square feet. Tiny houses more than 400 square feet venture into apartment-size dwellings and may be considered more of a traditional house than a tiny home. The number of occupants, desired lifestyle, and furniture will all be major factors that determine the desired tiny house size.

Yes, barndominiums are designed to withstand strong weather and severe storms if they are built properly by trained professionals. Most barndominiums are made up of a steel structure that can protect a building from winds of up to 150 miles per hour and resist a variety of weather conditions without a major risk of structural damage to the exterior, foundation, or frame.

The term “cottage” is subjective, so there’s no rigid definition, but it generally refers to a small home with simple and purposeful architecture that embraces nature and focuses on charm over everything else. Cottages are typically 1 or 1 1/2-stories tall, usually with gabled roofs, and are built out of natural materials that help make the structure a part of the surrounding nature rather than something that stands out from it. A big part of what makes a cottage a cottage is the decor, which includes natural materials from the nearby area.

Yes, barn doors can be too heavy, although the limitation is usually imposed by the mounting hardware you buy and not your home’s framing, unless you’re building an unusually wide door. To keep the weight down, you can opt for 1-by material rather than 2-by material, and choose a softwood like pine rather than a hardwood like maple or oak. Check the weight limits on your mounting hardware, and always attach your door track to studs rather than to drywall anchors.

There's no simple answer to which is less costly: wood or metal-framed homes. In most cases, metal building components cost more than wooden ones, while entire metal buildings cost less than wooden versions. However, regardless of the exterior framing or structure, each must meet similar building codes. This means that the costs are about the same, even considering that wood will require more maintenance than metal over time.
