"Excellent job. The owner was able to diagnose the problem with our generator. He made a sound recording and video documenting the problem and sent it to the generator company enabling us to receive new parts under the warranty. Mr. Byrne then installed those parts and fixed the generator. We have since used New Grange for all our electrical needs."

"I knew I needed to get a new circuit board because the old one kept blowing out. Antonio Ferrao sent his truck over within hours of my call and his men inspected my old circuit board and showed me the problem circuit breakers and even the discolored area around one which was heating up. They gave me a quote with 10% off if I could pay cash. I hired them. They came the next day, and kindly kept my generator on so I could have electricity while they shut off the main line to change the circuit board. They were fast, efficient, labeled all the new circuit breakers, and cleaned up completely. I would recommend them to anyone."

"Amazing service. Bernard and Devon came over and installed much needed electrical upgrades to my home. Came over at the time they said they would and completed the work swiftly. The price was more than fair and both electricians acted professionally."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For electrical projects in Mahwah, keep a voltage tester, wire strippers, electrical pliers, and a flashlight ready for basic troubleshooting. Always have electrical tape and wire nuts for safe, temporary repairs. A GFCI outlet tester is especially important in areas prone to moisture, like basements near the Ramapo River. Regularly check your tools for wear and store them in a dry, accessible spot to ensure safety and reliability.

Helpful?

When planning electrical work in Mahwah, be sure to check township permit and inspection requirements before starting. Consider surge protection for your home, as storms and dense tree coverage can increase power fluctuation risks. If you live near the Ramapo River, prioritize moisture-resistant outlets. Always review HOA or historic district guidelines, and plan for future needs like EV charging to keep your electrical system up to date.

Helpful?

Watch for frequent breaker trips, warm or discolored outlets, or a burning smell from your panel—these are urgent warning signs in Mahwah homes. Flickering lights during storms or outlets that feel loose may indicate deeper wiring problems. If your home has aluminum or cloth-wrapped wiring, schedule an inspection promptly, as these older materials are more prone to safety hazards and costly repairs if left unchecked.

Helpful?

In Mahwah, older main panels—especially those installed before the 1990s—often require upgrades to meet current safety standards. Kitchens, bathrooms, and basements may lack proper GFCI protection, especially in historic homes. If your property has original knob-and-tube wiring or outdoor features like landscape lighting, schedule routine inspections to catch issues early, as local weather and age can accelerate electrical wear.

Helpful?

In Mahwah, skipping required permits or attempting complex electrical work without proper qualifications can create safety and legal issues. Many homeowners overlook surge protection or fail to install outdoor GFCI outlets, especially in areas with heavy rainfall. Not planning for increased electrical loads—such as adding EV chargers—or ignoring HOA guidelines can lead to costly corrections and impact your home’s value and safety.
