"Masonry by Tommy listened to our needs and offered ideas to make it better. He offers the best quality work. The workers are very professionals, polite, and neat. Their attention to detail and the appearance of their finished work is the best we have ever seen. In repointing old brick and laying concrete slabs, they matched the color of our 20-year-old masonry. I would highly recommend Tommy to everyone!"

"I am a widow of 2 years left with unfinished house inside and out. I had no choice with township on my back to just rely and trust strangers to get me through my darkest times. My experience was a mix. Some pride on their work and sadly others just rob you. I hired Chris because he smiled he listened he understood and he spent time to make sure he knew exactly what I wanted I needed and very important what I could afford. The end result Chris finished my husbandâ s retaining wall-absolutely perfect. My husband the perfectionist would agree. Chris did the front stairs my long walkway . Grass is now growing. All thank you Chris. Yes Chris is honest reliable. At the end you will say a job well done."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Address structural masonry work immediately if you notice stair-step foundation cracks, severe mortar failure, or a damaged chimney crown. Fix any defects allowing water entry before the harsh NJ winter freeze-thaw cycle begins. Repair raised sidewalk panels right away to avoid local municipal violations. Cosmetic issues like hairline cracks or minor surface spalling on decorative stonework safely wait until the next season without causing structural harm.

Helpful?

Combining masonry work with other exterior upgrades streamlines the permit process and maximizes the short New Jersey construction season. Schedule foundation waterproofing alongside drainage improvements to address water intrusion comprehensively. Coordinate excavation projects simultaneously to minimize utility marking disruptions. Bundling these tasks under a single local professional reduces delays and ensures your home is fully prepared before the winter freeze arrives.

Helpful?

After completing masonry work in Lyndhurst, schedule your final municipal inspections to close out the project. Update your flood insurance documentation if you live near the Passaic River. Because of the local freeze-thaw cycles, apply a breathable masonry sealant before winter arrives. Wait 28 days for new mortar to cure before sealing. Finally, contact the local tax assessor to understand any potential property valuation changes resulting from your improvements.

Helpful?

Many homes in Lyndhurst date back to the early twentieth century. Start by inspecting your brick exteriors and foundations for deteriorating mortar. Prioritize chimney inspection and repointing to prepare for the New Jersey heating season. If your home sits near the Passaic River floodplain, consider waterproofing your foundation walls. Always inspect your concrete sidewalks and driveway aprons for trip hazards to ensure compliance with local municipal maintenance requirements.

Helpful?

When hiring for masonry work in Lyndhurst, choose from several specialized local professionals. Specialty masonry contractors focus entirely on brick, stone, and retaining walls. General contractors handle broader renovations that include foundation additions. Chimney specialists expertly repair older brick flues. Concrete contractors manage driveway aprons and sidewalks. Waterproofing contractors address basement moisture. Always verify that your chosen professional carries general liability and workers compensation insurance before starting.
