"He was the only person that answered my phone call. I needed to get my chimney repaired because it was crumbling apart. He gave me a price of $6500.00. He was hired to take the stones off down to the roof line where needed and repair. Also clean fireplace out inside. He did not remove any of the stones on the chimney and just plastered around them. I had hired several other contractors for various jobs around my home. Each one of them was honest, fair and completed their work as contracted. I realize now that I should have kept an eye on what he was doing, but had recently lost my husband and thought that he would do the job he was hired to. I hired another contractor to clean my chimney and he said that the money I was charged was overpriced and should have been less than half of what I was charged. He also left the extra sand next to my foundation and every time it rained it washed into my driveway. I would not recommend this business for any work."

Freeing a chimney from dust and soot doesn’t just prevent fires. It also increases air flow, which helps the fire burn efficiently, and it deodorizes the fireplace, getting that sooty smell out of the house. Since this routine sweep can prevent larger issues later on, we recommend having an inspection to see if it is necessary. Our technicians can provide a comprehensive inspection to make sure everything is running optimally

Chimney Repair questions, answered by experts

The lifespan of a roof patch depends on which materials you use and the severity of the damage. Temporary solutions like tarps or plastic sheets last a few weeks to a few months, while roofing tape or caulk may hold up for a year or two. Permanent patches using roofing cement, flashing, or replacement shingles can last several years as long as they're properly maintained. Regular inspections and touch-ups can extend the patch’s lifespan, but eventually, a full repair or replacement would be needed.

Metal roofing offers durability, energy efficiency, and resistance to extreme weather conditions. It can reduce cooling costs, has a longer lifespan than traditional materials, and provides a sleek, modern appearance, adding value to a property.

The paint on a metal roof will last for about 10 years (the metal roof itself has a life span of 40 to 70 years). After a decade, the metal roof’s color may be more noticeably faded, and chips and cracks may start to form in the paint.

There are advantages and disadvantages to metal roofs in cold climates. Metal roofing stands up extremely well to harsh winters as long as it is properly insulated. Snow and ice slide right off residential metal roofs, preventing the formation of ice dams; but because of this, they may require snow guards, which prevent the ice and snow that slide off a roof from causing a sort of "mini avalanche" that can damage property and people below.

In the right conditions, a steel roof can easily last 50 years or more. However, your environment and maintenance play a large role in the lifespan of a steel roof. For example, if you live under a large tree that frequently drops limbs, your roof will last much less time. Metal roofs near the sea degrade faster as well due to salt in the air.
