He made useful suggestions about potential upgrades to our HVAC and water heater, as well as our thermostat. He installed energy efficient light bulbs in the few lamps where we didn't already have them. "My bathroom remodeling experience was unexpectedly pleasant, and I owe a great deal of gratitude to the guys from Score Construction. I had a rough idea going in of what I wanted my mother's new bathroom to look like, but it was mostly just conjecture and hand-waving, needless to note I'm the type of guy who needs a gal that's mechanically inclined, because I'm far from it. Before starting the project, I had three contractors come and take a look at the bathroom (I also had two contractors who could only give me quotes over the phone, they were cheaper than the quotes I received in person, and I think it's very obvious why). They were all very professional in their conduct, but what set SCORE apart from the rest was their willingness to hear me out. I drew diagrams of what I wanted the bathroom to look like, and SCORE (in particular Janusz, though his partner was commendable as well) took the time to analyze my thoughts line by line. For my wishes that were feasible, they explained exactly how they would accomplish it, and for some of my ideas that were either too expensive or impossible considering the layout of the bathroom, they suggested revisions that were in line with the overall design (her bathroom is roughly 100 sq ft, so there was ample space for design). My only complaint about the other contractors was that they did not respect my ideas enough, not that they were rude in any way, but it felt to me as if the design was already established according to their desires, and it was me that was going to have to come around to their way of thinking. Admittedly, I have no design experience, but this is my project and my money so I figured that the hired hands should be a little understanding when it comes to my wishes. The guys at SCORE were more than understanding, and it showed itself in the final product. Once all the preliminaries were settled, the actual construction began and it was completed in two weeks. They adjusted their work schedule around my availability (if I was free and let them work straight w/o any days off I imagine it would have been done much sooner). They did a very professional job, and I'm very glad to have had such an easygoing remodeling experience. Mum's happy, so I'm happy. -Ali"

"I was seeking a significant augmentation of insulation in my attic, since the existing insulation was 31 years old, and had become very thin, and shoved around over several decades of work up there. After vetting 4 contractors, I chose Western Pest Services, and was very pleased with the entire process. they did a thorough evaluation of the attic space, evaluated my plan to run the installation tube through a 2nd floor window, and confirmed that there are no pests in the space. I felt that the price was fair - and the technicians did a terrific job in less time than I had expected. Definitely recommend them!"

"Wow... just wow. I feel like the clock rolled back several years to the days when tradesmen where available, on time, skilled and affordable. Koala is a rare find. These guys have it all together. Sal is the sparkplug that makes it work seamlessly. He guides you in just what you need, and nothing you don't need. His estimates are detailed and very fair pricing. After consulting with Sal he was able to schedule the work in less than a week. The installation crew called ahead on the scheduled day and arrived exactly on time. Shawn led the crew of 4 techs who worked neatly and thoroughly, and cleaned up well. They did rim joist sealing and batt insulation in a somewhat complex situation where I have I joists adjoining the band board. They also did blown in fiberglass in the attic. For anyone considering insulation of any format I highly recommend Sal and Koala. And, the best part of this experience with the company....the total cost less than others who had rebate programs."

"In the attic, we had wooden slats that covered the floor so they had to go under the floorboards. Although we were told by the salesman that there would always be a person on the other side of the wall to check for problems, the second guy was not watching and they blew a hole in the ceiling of the bedroom ( see pictures). They assured us that they would fix the hole, spackle it and repaint the ceiling. They did spackle the hole but only painted the area that they fixed - not the whole ceiling. And they did a lousy spackling job. We had to get someone else to smooth out the spackle and repaint the ceiling. We could have pushed to get them to fix the ceiling but it was late on the last day and we wanted the job done. As for the gel on the outside, the truck broke down due to the heat of the day and it took 3 days to finish the rest of the job including fixing the ceiling and the inside walls. Although the salesperson, did a first investigation of the house and said it could all be done from the outside, the workers found that one bedroom was covered in concrete so they had to drill from the inside of one of the bedrooms leaving many holes to be spackled. This time it was not so bad and we were able to sand and repaint that bedroom. But the workers could have done a better job of cleanup of the sparkle. It was all over the baseboard and the rug and we had to use rags to clean it up. We realize that things happen. And maybe we were too hopeful based on the salesman's pitch. But we would rather have had the salesperson tell us the truth about the possibility of drilling holes in the inside of the house even though he did a thorough inspection. All in all, we are hoping that insulating our house will save us a lot of money in heating costs. The manager was very accommodating, we saved some money by paying with a check vs a credit card. The workers were very nice and the lead person was very knowledgeable. Any renovation is stressful. We would probably recommend them because now we know what to expect. This company was recommended to us by a number of people. We have no doubt that the product itself is excellent. For that reason, we expected it all to go smoothly. It did not. Everything that could go wrong, basically did. It all got fixed but ... We did not plan for a hole in the ceiling, the truck breaking down and go into the shop to fix the problem with the gel overheating and not coming out of the hose fast enough, the concrete in one of the bedrooms that meant that all the holes had to be drilled on the inside of the bedroom and we had to repaint. So for those reasons, we are giving them a rating of fair. We hope your experience will be a lot better than ours !!"
