We were too far out of his service area but he was prompt in returning my inquiry. He was the only locksmith to whom we spoke who understood my issue and he recommended someone more local who might help us.

The locksmith from firstline arrived on time. He was friendly and courteous. The job was simpler than we had expected and the price was fair. The charge to come to our home was $49.00 . So even though the job was simple, we had to pay the $49 plus labor .

There are many types of deadbolts, but these tips work on most. First, address any grime buildup. A bit of WD-40 will loose up rust and dirt so the deadbolt can turn. Inspect the door and frame alignment if this doesn't resolve the issue. Adjust the strike plate or the deadbolt's position to improve alignment. If the problem persists, disassemble the lock to inspect for damaged or worn parts. If you are unsure how to do it, hire a local locksmith.

Smart locks offer a similar level of safety to traditional or conventional locks because they often use comparable locking mechanisms, such as deadbolts. The primary difference is the access method: smart locks use a login or code instead of a physical key, which adds convenience. While not inherently safer, some smart locks have added security features that can deter intruders, like shutting down after too many incorrect code attempts or being harder to pick. For the best security, it's recommended to combine any lock with other home safety features like motion-activated lighting, security cameras, and window and door sensors.

When you take a key to a hardware store or a locksmith for copying, you can expect the key-cutting process to take as little as 30 seconds. The key copier will review your current key to decide on the correct blank. Then, your original key and the blank are inserted into a key duplication machine to cut an exact key copy. When it’s all said and done, you can have a new key in your hand in just a couple of minutes.

Deadbolts are solid and durable as can be, but the pin and tumbler can still be forced open, thus making this type of lock susceptible to picking. Most types of deadbolts are harder to pick than a traditional spring-based lock, though. It requires a specialized lock pick and a tension wrench to align all of the pins, thus unlocking the door.
