"Everything was done professionally with courtesy and concern for our property and satisfaction. Even tending to some details not mentioned in our contract. This contractor was referred to us by other neighbors in our area in Upper Southampton, PA."

"Our property has a lot of trees, and we dread autumn every year because it's so hard to keep up with the leaves. For years, we handled fall cleanup ourselves, but this year, we finally gave in and called Joe Smentkowski, who was recommended by a friend. All I can say is, why, oh why, didn't we hire him and his team years ago? They were prompt, thorough, fair, and our lawn has never looked better. They even cleaned the gutters. Thanks, Joe - we'd recommend you any day!"

"Super happy with my stairs. I live on a hill, so this was a huge job and Iggy and his associates did an amazing job. They gave a great price, helped me decide on colors and were super responsive via text/email/phone. They cleaned up everything as well. 10/10. I would highly recommend and will certainly use them again in the future. Photos attached are after and before."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Yes, recycled asphalt driveway costs can be substantially lower than new asphalt. With new asphalt costing between $90 and $190 per ton, this option can cost as much as 10 times more than laying down asphalt millings.

In the United States, roads are usually categorized as one of three types: public roads, other drivable roads, and non-drivable roads. These categories dictate how a road can be used; a non-drivable road might be classified that way because it is heavily damaged and unsafe for cars.

Asphalt is not a type of concrete. While both are a common type of pavement, asphalt is composed of aggregates (like sand and gravel) and bitumen; concrete is a mixture of cement, aggregates, and water. Here are some of the key differences between asphalt and concrete driveways.

If your driveway is cracked, you can repave it with a process called asphalt overlay. Overlay is more cost-effective than a full replacement but is better suited for minor cracks and issues. If you have major cracks or other problems like water pooling, asphalt overlay isn’t your best bet. Plus, paving over a cracked driveway only extends the lifetime by about 10 years, whereas replacing it would start the clock over completely to give you up to 30 years.

If you’re looking for a similar, eco-friendly driveway material, you might consider one of these options:

  • Permeable pavement: This material is sometimes called “pervious” or “porous” pavement; it allows stormwater to drain into the subbase, eliminating storm drain costs.

  • Gravel: Consider paving your driveway with locally sourced gravel. By sourcing from a nearby source, your money won’t fund international shipping and will be invested back into your local community.

  • Natural stone pavers: Because natural stone pavers are made from organically-produced stone, there’s no new manufacturing required, limiting the environmental impact. In addition, water easily flows and drains through the gaps in the pavers.
