"Harvey and his men arrived promptly, installed an exterior patio door handle, plant brackets, and a wall shelf; hung pictures a mirror, and drapes; Cleared a clogged sink; moved books and an old tv; repaired a table drawer, wooden doors that didn’t fit their frames, and the drop leaf of a wooden table; and tightened door locks and door handles. Harvey and his men worked clean, were friendly and polite, and finished earlier than expected. And Harvey gave me thoughtful, intelligent advice about solving various items on my punch list. A real pleasure to work with, all at a reasonable price."

Customers say: True professional

"The owner Robert was very knowledgeable and resourceful in designing and building the large deck around my pool. Whenever I had a question or concern, he called back or texted me within minutes, even when he was busy, which is unheard of when dealing with contractors. His quote was very competitive. and even though the project took much longer than he anticipated because of the complexity , he did not charge me anymore than the contracted price. There were delays in finishing the project , mostly as a result of inclimate weather but the end product was exemplary . it was a challenge to redesign a deck around my pool with very uneven fence and unlevel ground. His crew, Jose being lead , was very responsible and worked so hard. They paid such attention to detail and I could not be more pleased . I cannot wait until the summer when the pool opens to show off their great work. I would highly recommend Q&R and look forward to using them in the future"

"Damian, the owner of this company, accommodated a last minute request for same day assistance, and had no problem working with our late evening schedule. He assisted with lifting and installing heavy standalone closet furniture pieces from our first floor to our 2nd floor master closet room, and even pointed out mistakes made and gave pointers to make installation better/easier. He was pleasant and flexible, and most of all very reasonably priced! Considering that the request was not something he normally does, his assistance was even more appreciated!"

"I found them on Angi List during July 4th weekend, Mike responded amazingly during the holiday with initial quote. I truly recommend High Energy Electric license services, anybody wishes to replace their main services from aluminum to copper by code of NJ Township. His electricians crew were highly skilled quick and complete installation within one day. Thank you Mike and crew for your professionalism and prompt response. I will refer your business and use you again."

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

The cost to repair a swimming pool varies widely, with an average cost around $700. The total expense can range from as little as $10 for simple DIY fixes to over $20,000 for extensive overhauls. Key factors influencing the cost include the type of pool (in-ground vs. above-ground), its size, and the specific repairs needed. For above-ground pools, repairs typically cost between $100 and $700. For in-ground pools, costs are higher, generally ranging from $350 to $2,700. Common repairs include patching liners, fixing plumbing or electrical lines, and repairing equipment like pumps and filters. More complex issues, such as fixing a cracked beam, can cost $6,000 or more, while major projects like resurfacing a concrete pool can cost between $10,000 and $20,000.

Whether your homeowners insurance covers a pool leak depends on your specific policy, so it's essential to check your policy documents before taking on any repairs. Typically, leaks caused by a covered event, such as a fallen tree branch or a fire, may be covered. However, leaks resulting from general wear and tear or poor maintenance are usually not. It is also a good practice to review your homeowners insurance policy before installing a pool to fully understand your personal liability and coverage.

The best way to find a reliable pool service company is to look for one that is properly licensed and insured, has positive customer reviews, maintains good ratings with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and provides pricing that fits into your budget. You can also ask the following questions to see if a pool service company is right for you:

  • Do you provide discounts if I sign up for multiple services or a contract?

  • What services can you provide?

  • How many years of experience do you have?

  • Do you have any customer references I can call?

No, shock and chlorine are not the same thing, though they are related and both are used for pool maintenance. Regular chlorine, often in the form of tablets, is a sanitizer used for routine, day-to-day maintenance to keep a steady chlorine level. Pool shock, however, is a highly concentrated dose of chlorine used periodically for a more intense cleaning. It rapidly raises chlorine levels to fix issues like cloudy water or algae growth and also eliminates chloramines, which are byproducts of regular chlorination. Because their purposes and concentrations differ, they are not interchangeable, and proper pool care typically requires using both.

Yes, you can put too much shock in a pool, and it is crucial to follow the directions on the product you are using. Adding excess shock can upset the chemical balance, make the water cloudy, have adverse effects on swimmers, damage pool equipment or surfaces, and even encourage certain types of algae to grow. If you have over-shocked your pool, perform a water test and adjust the chemicals as necessary. The pool's chemical balance will eventually return to normal as the excess chlorine dissipates over time.
