Customers say: Quick response

"I hired Service Resource & Restoration to repair damage caused by a ruptured water heater on the second floor of my mother's townhouse. The owner (Rich) was very attentive, knowledgeable in construction, and had experience in working with insurance companies to secure the money needed to do the repairs the right way. After the work was completed, we noticed a couple of areas where the paint needed to be retouched, which he took care of immediately. I would highly recommend SS&R to anyone who is currently looking for a contractor. They are not the cheapest, but they provide good value for the money."

"I would highly recommend Harvey and his crew. They are professional, courteous, and punctual. I originally called for the leaks in my bathroom. This revealed the problems with the upstairs bathroom. Harvey gave me options. I chose to have the plumbing replaced and his crew did it magnificently. He installed a new sink, new plumbing for upstairs shower/faucet/drain, tiling, drywall. In my master bathroom, new plumbing, drywall, bathroom exhaust fan and painting. Additionally, I knew I had roof issues but Harvey showed me the extent to which the roof was in disrepair. I did not know I had shingles missing and that there was so much shoddy patchwork done by the previous owner. As a first time homeowner who will live in my house for at least 20 more years, I chose to redo my entire roof (it was last done in 1994). My roof looks amazing now with no exposed wood or damage. The roofing was done in one day. Amazing. They also cleaned up after themselves. I would highly recommend Harvey and his team. I will definitely use them again if I have any more house repairs."

Customers say: True professional

"Professional, knowledgeable, timely, and competitively priced. This is my 3rd time using Angi and the contractors become increasingly better. Q and R was prompt with their reply to my posting. Their work is excellent, the drywall is smooth as glass. They also repaired pantry shelving. They noticed the screws used originally were not long enough for pantry use, Q & R immediately corrected that shortcoming. They have an eye for details. The crew was personable and made us feel totally comfortable. I would use them again in a heartbeat!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

When choosing materials for finishing basement walls, consider factors such as moisture resistance, durability, and fire resistance. Opt for materials specifically designed for basement environments, like moisture-resistant drywall or cement board. Insulation with vapor barriers can help regulate temperature and prevent condensation. Consider using mold-resistant paints or coatings.

Research and consult with experts to select materials that are suitable for your specific basement conditions and intended use. Prioritize quality and compatibility to achieve long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.

Depending on how much adhesive was used as well as the strength of the adhesive, you may have some drywall damage when removing a mirror. You can typically repair most drywall damage if it’s small by sanding the damaged area, applying spackle to smooth the damaged section so it’s flush with the rest of the wall, and repainting the area.

Whether Venetian plaster increases your home's value often depends on the buyer's preference. As a purely aesthetic upgrade, it doesn't add structural value in the same way a kitchen or bathroom remodel might. However, its beautiful and attractive appearance can make a home more appealing to potential buyers, possibly leading to more interest, higher offers, and increased competition when you sell.

Yes, small, superficial cracks are normal as homes settle. Older homes have a higher chance of showing signs of settling through hairline cracks from temperature changes, moisture changes, and soil shifting. However, larger cracks, or discolored cracks from water damage, may signify a bigger problem that requires reparations and preventative measures.

You may need to replace drywall because of smoke damage. If the drywall is covered in soot, you may be able to clean it, but it will require a lot of time and effort. You could spend hours cleaning the drywall only to find there is more damage and it needs to be replaced anyway. It’s usually easier and safer to remove the smoke-damaged drywall and replace it.
