"I have a vinyl fence which changes position as the ground freezes and thaws making gate adjustments necessary. I have had a hard time finding someone who is willing to come out to do a fence repair as most want the more lucrative installation jobs. Glad I found D's Fencing to do my repair!"

"Derek is a very eager business man who is eager to do the work for you.  He wants to make sure you are pleased with the work at what I thought was a very reasonable price.  He did high quality work and let us know if there were any issues he would be glad to come back and fix things.  We left Derek the password to our gate and he came and did the work while we were at work and this was a great convenience for us.  He was a very clean worker. All in all we felt the deck looks great."

"Excellent experience from estimating to job completion. Express Fencing showed up for estimate within scheduled window. They completed the job in one day (on time and when they promised), and showed up next day to finish a repair for which additional parts were needed."

"They were prompt, and they did an excellent job.  The gutters had not been cleaned for some time, and they cleaned them out and  cleaned all of the debris that fell on the lawn and on my back deck.  They were thorough, polite, and concerned with my satisfaction.  I would definitely hire them again, and I have already recommended them to my neighbors.  I also needed sections of the house power washed, and they were able to accommodate me and cleaned this as well.

"Scheduling the appointment was very easy and they were responsive. They were able to come the next day. I was not able to be there, but my neighbor was home and said that things went well. When I came home and after everything had dried, I could see areas where there dirt streaks had been left and they didn't get under the deck but for the price it did make the house look better. I would hire again if I was there in person."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Yes, deck pier blocks can be used as an alternative to traditional deck footings, particularly for small or low-to-the-ground decks. Unlike poured concrete and buried post footings, deck blocks don’t require digging or pouring. However, their use is regulated by local building codes, and they may not be permitted in areas prone to high winds, earthquakes, or hurricanes. Always consult your local building codes before choosing them for your deck project.

The cost to build a deck around a pool typically ranges from $3,000 to $12,000, depending on the size, material, and whether you tackle the build yourself. Most people pay an average of $5,000 for their pool deck project. Hiring a pro to build a pool will cost you more for labor, but it will be worth it to ensure a safe and secure installation.

In most cases, your deck will need some form of deck footing to hold it in place, preventing moisture from rotting your wood and decreasing your deck’s lifespan. Concrete deck blocks are the most common type of footing for floating decks. Some homeowners use ground-level deck footings. For added security, consider digging and laying your ground-level footings below ground.

Putting lattice under a deck will create a polished look that allows for air ventilation. You can also store items underneath as the lattice provides privacy and protection from the weather. You can also put lattice under a porch to create a polished look in the front of your house.

Building a deck without a permit could lead to fines for both the homeowner and the contractor. The exact penalties will depend on your state and municipal building laws. You might also be required to remove the deck and apply for a permit before you can build another. While it might be tempting to skip the permit to save a few bucks, it’ll cost you much more if you’re caught.
