"Sean was our plumber and he was timely and very professional. He explained everything he did and showed me so I was familiar with the work done. We had to install a second water meter for our sprinkler system and it was handled beautifully. I highly recommend My Guy Plumbing. Ask for Sean!!!"

Customers say: Quick response

"Raymond and his crew did an excellent and outstanding job installing a new water heater. Very professional and courtesy. Showed up on time, proposal was great, explained every detail and step, installation was flawless! He was even available at midnight when we thought there was an issue but realized it was no issue at all and he was ready to come to the house regardless! Couldn’t ask for a better service and company! Will use in the future for other plumbing needs! Highly recommended!! A Thanks again!!"

"Ken and Eric did a fantastic job of installing the shower surround. They were very meticulous and neat. Made sure everything was done correctly. As far as a luxury bath as a company, the management (Joe project manager) does not care about their customers. They only care about getting their money. They have a three day cancellation contract that nobody reads in the three days and if something is wrong, there’s no way they’ll cancel it they just want their money. They also do not have plumbers that are qualified to move pipes that are in the way so you have to pay more to get that done. Also, in the sales pitch, the salesman (Phil Mahran) tells you that if they find anything behind the existing walls, they can fix it, which is not true they can’t fix plumbing in the way. The company wouldn’t even help pay for the extra plumbing work that cost me $1700."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

When tackling plumbing in Forked River, you encounter a high coastal water table. Excavating for underground pipes hits groundwater quickly, requiring unplanned dewatering. Many local homes started as seasonal cottages and still have undersized supply lines or original galvanized pipes that require complete replacement. Upgrading a water heater also triggers new NJ code requirements for updated venting or seismic strapping.

Helpful?

Upgrading your plumbing definitely boosts resale appeal in Forked River. Replacing outdated galvanized steel pipes with a documented whole-house repipe removes a major buyer concern. Proactively certifying or upgrading an aging private septic system serves as a strong selling point. For homes in flood zones, demonstrating that your updated systems meet current flood-resistant construction standards provides tangible value and peace of mind for buyers.

Helpful?

Using garbage disposals heavily or flushing non-biodegradable wipes damages the bacterial balance of private septic systems common across NJ. Leaving crawl space vents open year-round exposes metal fittings to corrosive saltwater humidity. Lowering your heat too much during winter freeze-thaw cycles leads to burst pipes. Taking long showers with acidic well water also accelerates pinhole leaks and fitting failures throughout your plumbing system.

Helpful?

Start by identifying whether your NJ property relies on a private well or municipal water, as this determines your corrosion risks. Locate your septic tank and drain field to prevent accidental damage during excavation. Check your local flood zone designation to understand elevation requirements for mechanical systems. Knowing your foundation type and year built predicts what pipe materials exist in your current plumbing.

Helpful?

Check if your Forked River home sits on a slab foundation or over a damp crawl space. Slab construction requires concrete cutting to reach pipes, adding significant complexity to plumbing work. Homes in local flood zones need mechanical systems elevated above base flood levels. Waterfront lagoon properties feature shallow soil depths that complicate underground pipe routing and require careful planning before starting work.
