"Overall, they were good. Efficient and polite. The quality of their work is very good. The manner in which they work needs improvement. Clipping chain links and allowing them to fall on wood floors â ¦ placing old fixtures on wood floors. However, the two gentlemen on the job were extremely knowledgeable, and I would most certainly hire them again."

"Aztek Construction came highly recommended and they did not disappoint. In fact I would say they exceeded my expectation. Pat Bowen was great to work with, very personable and friendly. The 2 man crew, Greg and Chris, was awesome as well. Very informative and knowledgeable. On top of their professionalism and excellent work and work ethic, we got along really well which is very important to me. Men of character and of their word. I highly recommend them for structural repair."

"I was skeptical in the beginning, alas they called me immediately. Sue came within a few days to view and measure the drapery I wanted shortened to floor length and gave me a quote. The next day a young man came on time to take down each panel. He marked and measured each panel and carefully boxed them. I was called when work was finished. Another appointmentu was made for installation and steaming where necessary. WE ARE VERY HAPPY WITH THE ENTIRE TRANSACTION. Everyone was courteous and did a great job!"

"We can not say enough about this company. KASSH not only had the best price of multiple other companies we considered but they had a great vision and were really able to help us create exactly what we wanted. They truly love what they do and it shows in their unbelievable attention to detail and amazing finished product. Not only is the work they do absolute perfection but the guys themselves are beyond wonderful to work with. We have already recommended them to so many people and everyone we've shown our kitchen to is blown away by what KASSH was able to do and how quickly they were able to do it. They are extremely hard workers; they go above and beyond & they also leave the worksite ridiculously clean at the end of every day. They pay attention to even the most minute detail. I feel like I could write a novel about what an outstanding job they do and how wonderful our experience with them was. We will DEFINITELY be using them in the future."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Yes, ceiling joists are typically load-bearing. However, their primary function is to support the weight of the ceiling and loads applied to it, like lighting fixtures and ceiling fans. They can also help support the roof, especially if they’re part of truss systems. Remember, the load-bearing capacity of ceiling joists depends on the material, size, and space between them.

While you may have heard people use millwork and carpentry interchangeably, they aren’t the same. Millwork is a type of carpentry, which means that carpentry isn’t always millwork. You can tell millwork apart from other types of carpentry because it’s manufactured at a mill. Notably, casework is also confused with millwork. Casework is different because it refers to boxes like cabinets and bookshelves.

Some states require carpenters to be licensed to perform forms of carpentry, such as framing. The license requires a certain amount of experience and to pass an examination. In states that don’t require carpenters to be licensed, they must be licensed as a contractor if they work independently rather than solely as a subcontractor under a licensed builder. Use Angi’s contractor licensing tool to find out whether a potential carpenter is licensed in your state.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface materials can be cut with standard woodworking tools, such as a circular saw or a jigsaw. However, it is crucial to use the correct type of blade to avoid damaging the material.

For a circular saw, a tungsten carbide-tipped blade is required; a triple chip grind blade is highly recommended. For a jigsaw, you should use a fine-tooth down-cutting blade. Do not use blades designed for cutting wood, as they can cause microfractures that weaken the edges of the countertop. A diamond blade is also unnecessary, as those are designed for harder materials like natural stone, which Corian is not.

After cutting, the edge will be rough. It is essential to sand and smooth the cut edge to prevent microfractures, which can eventually compromise the integrity of the countertop.

While carpenters and woodworkers perform similar tasks, their focus differs. A carpenter is typically responsible for the structural woodwork involved in construction, such as framing, installing sheathing, hanging kitchen cabinets, and installing trusses. In contrast, a woodworker handles more intricate and custom projects, like building custom furniture, installing wainscoting, and creating detailed interior trim and moldings. Based on these definitions, many woodworkers can perform the tasks of a carpenter, but it's always best to discuss your specific project with a professional to ensure they have the necessary skills.
